Center Pavel Datsyuk is not in the Detroit Red Wings' line for Friday night's game against the Anaheim Ducks. The Red Wings' website says he's sidelined with an upper-body injury.
Prior to Friday, Datsyuk had registered goals in three straight games. It was the first time in more than a year that the Wings' Russian star had scored in three consecutive games. He has six goals and eight assists in 13 games.
Detroit recalled rookie forward Gustav Nyquist from their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, to take Datsyuk's place. He'll play with center Valtteri Filppula and forward Justin Abdelkader on the second line.
Nyquist leads the Griffins and is tied for fourth in the AHL scoring with 45 points. He has 17 goals and 28 assists in 47 games. This is his second stint of the season with the Red Wings; he played in their home opener on Jan. 22.
Nyquist has one goal and six assists in 19 career NHL games.
The Red Wings also placed forward Todd Bertuzzi on injured reserve Friday with a back problem.
