Upper-body injury sidelines Capitals' Johansson

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Washington Capitals forward Marcus Johansson did not make the trip along with his teammates and will sit out Tuesday night's game against the Florida Panthers.

Johansson sustained an upper-body injury Thursday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins and sat out Saturday's 5-0 victory against the Panthers at the Verizon Center.

Johansson is listed as day-to-day. The Capitals' next game is Thursday at the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Coach Adam Oates said after Thursday's morning skate he had no update on the status of injured forward Brooks Laich or whether he had been cleared for contact.

Laich, who sustained a groin injury during the lockout while playing in Switzerland, has yet to play this season.

Here is the Capitals' projected lineup for Tuesday’s game:

Injured: F Marcus Johansson (upper body), F Brooks Laich (lower body), D Jack Hillen (upper body), D Tom Poti (upper body)

Scratches: Roman Hamrlik

Quote of the Day

I came into a team that had 65 points, that was at the bottom of the basement, a team that everybody wrote off as never going to be good. My goal is to go from the very bottom to the very top.
