Simmonds practices, reportedly doubtful for Thursday

According to CSNPhilly.com, Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren has said forward Wayne Simmonds is doubtful to play when the Flyers host the Florida Panthers on Thursday.

Simmonds has missed the past two games since sustaining a concussion when he was elbowed in the face by Washington Capitals defenseman John Erskine during a game Feb. 1. Erskine was suspended three games for the hit.

Simmonds missed Saturday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes and Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, but practiced with the team Wednesday, wearing a yellow (non-contact) jersey.

"I feel pretty good," Simmonds said after Wednesday's skate. "I feel good today especially."

Simmonds added that he has been "headache-free" since the hit, but that the decision on when he would return to the lineup rested with the team's medical staff.

Quote of the Day

It's about enjoying the moment. It's pretty cool to get that many people together and that excited about hockey to the point they really want you to mess up. They've got a ton of red jerseys and you have to sit back and appreciate people love hockey that much and you are the one out there who gets to play the game. Just try and stick with that respect for the game and also the mentality that for me it's just about entering the fight and seeing how long I can stay in it.
