Goligoski a healthy scratch for Stars

Alex Goligoski will be a healthy scratch for the Dallas Stars' game against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old defenseman, who was the centerpiece for the Stars in a 2011 trade that sent James Neal and Matt Niskanen to the Pittsburgh Penguins, has zero goals and three assists this season. Stars coach Glen Gulutzan confirmed his decision to scratch Goligoski.

"Alex needs to get back to Alex's level. It's pretty cut and dried," Gulutzan told Dallas Morning News reporter Mike Heika.

Asked if he thinks he might be putting too much pressure on himself and trying too hard, Goligioski said yes.

"I think it's probably a little of that," he said. "I just have to relax and simplify my game, and just make the smart play."

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
