Kiprusoff left Calgary's game Tuesday night after making 19 saves on 20 shots in a 4-1 victory against the Detroit Red Wings. Backup goaltender Leland Irving replaced Kiprusoff for the third period and stopped all six shots he faced.
The Flames signed Abbotsford Heat goaltender Danny Taylor to a one-year, two-way contract and he will fill Kiprusoff's spot. The 26-year-old is 13-9-1 and second in the American Hockey League in goals-against average (1.77) and save percentage (.930). The leader in both categories is Abbotsford's Barry Brust, who is 9-6-2 with a 1.69 GAA and .940 save percentage.
I first met him when I was 19 years old and he coached me for 13 consecutive years. I don't know how many athletes who have had that pleasure. Al Arbour was a man that left us not only feeling like champions, but left us with a lot of great memories that we can carry on through life.
