Bull scores against Grant Fuhr

LAS VEGAS -- Just when I think this trip can't get any better, the bar gets set even higher for the next day.

The highlight Wednesday was getting a chance to take a faceoff against The Great One himself, Wayne Gretzky. I was called for my first shift and there he was, skating out there at the same time. And, right then and there, I knew I was going to be taking a draw with Gretzky.

The ref dropped the puck and I won the faceoff, and nearly created a scoring chance for myself as well. That's a memory of a lifetime.

Then later in the game, I got a lucky bounce around the net and scored a goal against Grant Fuhr. After the game -- we won 7-5 -- I went over to Grant to shake his hand. I told him, "I can't believe I scored a goal on Grant Fuhr." He got a good chuckle at that.

Again, that's a memory that will last for the rest of my life.

But, this camp has been full of them.

For example, Tuesday night I went down to the bar at the sports book in the Bellagio just thinking I'd grab a cold one and unwind from the day, wrap my head around everything that happened.

Well, I get down there and already in the bar is a who's who from this fantasy camp. Brian Leetch, Mike Keenan, Mike Barnett, Rick Tocchet were all in there. Denis Savard got there shortly after I arrived.

I introduced myself to Mike Barnett and started to tell him about my trip, how I'll be going to New York in about a week, and he pulled one out of the hat for me that I certainly wasn't expecting.

He told me when I get to New York to get in touch with him because he'll get me into the green room at Madison Square Garden both before and after the game I'll be going to. He said you never know who you're going to meet in the green room at MSG.

Then he asked me if I ever heard of David Letterman. I told him yes because they put his show on TV in Australia, too. Well, he asked me if I wanted tickets to go see Letterman.

To say no to that would be nuts. It's just tremendous, tremendous. It's unbelievable how this trip is going.

But, wait, there’s more.

I started chatting with Savard and, really, what a nice bloke he is. He's just so friendly and is really only interested in who you are and where you're from. He then asked if I was going to be staying in Vegas for the weekend because of the Super Bowl. I told him I would be and then he said he had an extra ticket for me to one of the parties he'll be going to on Sunday.

Again, you're not going to say no to that. What an amazing thing.

After leaving that bar we went over to an event the camp was holding at Hyde. They were doing a jersey giveaway so Gretzky, who was standing up there with a microphone, pulls out this Blues' jersey with his name and number on the back and then he calls out my name.

He called out my name!

I wasn't expecting to win anything, but here I won this Gretzky jersey. He gives me a big high five, we take some photos and then he was kind enough to sign the jersey.

One of the guys I was hanging out with told me I should go to the tables immediately and start gambling because I was bound to win with the luck I was having.

I ended up walking around all night with this big grin on my face, hanging onto this jersey for dear life, afraid someone was going to spill a drink on it.

I'm not sure what's in store for Thursday, but I can't wait to find out.
