Avalanche captain Landeskog returns after hit

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog left Saturday's game against the San Jose Sharks near the end of the first period but returned to the ice in the second.

Landeskog seemed to have suffered a lower-body injury and went to the dressing room with 4:20 to go in the first period after he took a hit from Sharks defenseman Brad Stuart.

Landeskog immediately left the game and appeared to be favoring his left leg as he limped toward the dressing room.

Moments after Stuart's hit, a fight erupted between him and Colorado defenseman Ryan O'Byrne. Stuart received a five-minute fighting major, and O'Byrne, the instigator, received a total of 19 penalty minutes.

San Jose scored twice after the fight to take a 2-0 lead.

Quote of the Day

That was something I've been dreaming of, something I've told myself before the third period I was going to do ... It was an amazing feeling. It's hard to describe. I didn't believe it went in at first but when I saw all the reaction and all the fans going crazy and my teammates going crazy, it's just an unbelievable feeling. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know whether to jump or just skate and do a Theo Fleury. I don't think I'm the same caliber player he is so I couldn't do it.
