The Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday returned defenseman Jake Gardiner to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Toronto Marlies.
Gardiner had no points and four shots on goal in two games with the Maple Leafs. They were his first games since Dec. 8, when he sustained a concussion playing for the Marlies.
Prior to his injury, Gardiner had 17 points in 22 AHL games this season. He had 30 points in 75 NHL games last season.
