Flames add to defense, ink Butler for two years
The Calgary Flames signed defenseman Chris Butler on Friday to a two-year contract worth a reported $2.5 million.

Butler, 24, played all three of his NHL seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, posting 5 goals and 31 assists in 155 games.

Calgary acquired Butler, a restricted free agent, along with Paul Bryon on a draft day trade with the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for Robyn Regehr, Ales Kotalik and Calgary’s second pick in the 2012 Entry Draft.
Quote of the Day

I don't think it's really truly going to sink in until we drop the puck, to be honest. I know there's going to be a lot of smoke and mirrors with the media attention and all that. We came [Monday] and it was sort of a light day to get things organized. We just want to focus in on the business aspect, the game itself. That's what we're preparing to do. Get these next couple of days out of the way and it's game on.
