Jets claim Wright off waivers from Panthers

The Winnipeg Jets claimed forward James Wright off waivers Friday from the Florida Panthers.

Wright, 22, has played in 40 games with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League so far this season. In that time, the Saskatoon, SK native has recorded five goals, 17 points and 31 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-3 forward has played in 49 NHL games all with the Tampa Bay Lightning where he totaled two goals and five points.

Wright began his major junior career with the Vancouver Giants where he played four seasons, winning the Memorial Cup with the club in 2007. He was originally drafted by the Lightning in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Draft.
