Blackhawks assigned three players to AHL

The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned forwards Jimmy Hayes and Brandon Pirri and defenseman Ryan Stanton to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs.

Hayes, 23, had nine points in 31 regular-season games with the Blackhawks last season, his first in the NHL, and played in two postseason games.

Pirri, 21, had two assists in five games with Chicago during the 2011-12 regular season and paced the club with four goals and five points in four games during the 2011 preseason.

Stanton, 23, has yet to appear in an NHL game.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
