Report: Knuble to try out for Red Wings

Veteran forward Mike Knuble will attend Detroit Red Wings training camp on a tryout basis, MLive.com reported Saturday.

Knuble, 40, had six goals and 12 assists in 72 games for the Washington Capitals last season.

The report says Knuble is a long shot to make the Red Wings, who have 14 forwards on their roster, plus some NHL-ready prospects.

Knuble has played 1,040 games over 16 NHL seasons. He played college hockey at Michigan, was drafted by Detroit in 1991 and started his career with the Red Wings in 1996.

Quote of the Day

When we started our journey we made a commitment to our fans to be relevant and to see the Chicago Blackhawks become the best professional hockey organization. There are not two finer symbols of that than Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. The commitment we have made to these incredible young men is equal to the commitment they have made to our team, our fans, our entire organization and the city of Chicago.
