Tied through three periods

Nikita Kucherov scored a power-play goal with 1:36 remaining in the third period to give the Russian Junior National Team a 3-3 tie with Switzerland in the quarterfinal round of the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.

Sven Andrighetto had given Switzerland its first lead, 3-2, 8:57 into the third when he scored off his own rebound. The Swiss will be entering their fourth straight overtime period at the WJC.

The winner will play defending gold-medalist Sweden in the semifinals of the medal round on Thursday at 8 a.m. ET.

Quote of the Day

I loved being in the jerseys again and they worked some magic for us. It was weird in warm-ups, seeing No. 22 in that jersey and thinking he’s [Mike Gartner], and No. 8 reminds you of Danny Briere … every number had me thinking back to the guys who wore them and smiling.
