Mat Rupert's goal in the third round of the shootout gave London a 4-3 victory against Guelph on Saturday, the Knights' franchise-record 20th consecutive win.
The Knights (28-5-2) led 2-0 and 3-2, but the Storm tied the game with 7:30 remaining in regulation on a power-play goal by Hunter Garlent. Kyle Platzer had put the Knights ahead 1:29 into the third period with his first goal of the season.
After a scoreless overtime, London's Seth Griffin and Guelph's Jason Dickson scored in the first round of the shootout. Neither team scored in the second round, but Rupert beat Guelph goaltender Garret Sparks to start the third round and Garlent was unable to beat Kevin Bailie, giving the Knights the win.
Bailie finished with 28 saves. Sparks stopped 23 shots. Both teams scored twice in eight power-play attempts.
The Knights surpassed their franchise-record 18-game winning streak set in 2004-05 when they beat Owen Sound 3-2 on Friday. The OHL record for consecutive wins is 25, set by the Kitchener Rangers in 1983-84.
