Kootenay Ice goaltender Mackenzie Skapski was named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week after going 3-0 with a pair of shutouts last week.
Skapski's big week began with a 17-save shutout last Monday in a 4-0 win against the Calgary Hitmen. On Friday he made 32 saves in a 5-3 win against the Brandon Wheat Kings, and he was even better in a rematch with Brandon on Saturday, stopping all 31 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season in a 4-0 victory.
The 18-year-old goalie is 7-7-0 with a 3.64 goals-against average and .887 save percentage, but Kootenay only has seven wins on the season. His three shutouts are tied for the most in the league.
