Successful return for Waterloo's McCoshen

Waterloo Black Hawks defenseman and top 2013 NHL Draft prospect Ian McCoshen had an assist and was a plus-3 in his return to the lineup Saturday after missing nearly a month due to illness.

McCoshen earned a secondary assist on Vince Hinostroza's second-period goal, and had two shots on goal in the Black Hawks' 7-3 win at Cedar Rapids.

McCoshen, a 6-2.5, 207-pound blueliner, is No. 2 among United States Hockey League skaters in NHL Central Scouting's preliminary top 25 ranking. He has a goal and four assists in nine games, and his plus-16 rating is the best in the league.

Waterloo leads the USHL Western Conference at 14-5, but went 4-4-0 in the eight games McCoshen missed.
