5-point game has Lipon back on track for Blazers

JC Lipon is back on track.

The Kamloops Blazers forward had a five-point night Friday, ending a brief scoring slump that produced three points in six previous November games.

Lipon had two goals and three assists in a 6-4 win over the Portland Winterhawks. He leads the WHL with 48 points (19 goals, 29 assists) in 24 games.

Friday was Lipon's first five-point game of the season; he has four four-point games and four three-point games for Kamloops, which leads the B.C. Division of the Western Conference.

Though eligible, Lipon was not chosen in the 2012 NHL Draft.

"This kid has just exploded out of the gate," NHL Central Scouting's Peter Sullivan told NHL.com last month. "Here's a kid that in his [initial] draft year wasn't drafted, and guys that were drafted in the first two rounds [last year], he's better now at this point than the kids that were drafted."
