TORONTO -- Mats Sundin and Borje Salming were using their fame and their friendship for charity on Sunday.
Both Swedish stars and ex-Maple Leafs greats were using the same type of stick that would go to charity after the Legends Classic, which was played at Air Canada Centre.
The stick, designed by Salming, has a twist on the bottom of the shaft near the toe that is designed for a better release.
"This is a new stick, a new release that allows you to shoot so much better, that's why it's twisted," Salming told NHL.com. "It's brand new and of course it's a Salming stick. I'm going to leave it with my agent here [to auction it off for charity]. I'm going to sign mine and Mats is going to sign his."
Salming wasn't sure where the sticks would end up and how much money they would fetch for charity, but he was just happy to be taking part in a good cause with his good friend and now fellow Hall of Famer.
Salming was Sundin's idol and their friendship developed during Sundin's years in Toronto.
"Playing in Toronto, it's the toughest town to play, and he's done a great job," Salming said. "I'm so happy for him to be in the Hall of Fame. I was by myself for a long time so it's nice to get a friend in there. I'm just happy for him."
