Quebec's Sorensen to sit this weekend

Quebec Remparts right wing Nick Sorensen, who earned a B rating on NHL Central Scouting's preliminary list for players in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, will be sidelined this weekend with a bruised foot.

Sorensen had been on fire this season, hitting for four goals and 11 assists in 14 games. He also sports a plus-7 rating. The 6-foot-0.5, 168-pound forward missed almost all of his rookie season in 2011-12 after suffering a knee injury in the eighth game of the season.

"He's been showing no ill effects of that knee injury [he suffered last season], which is especially fortunate for him since he plays a skating game," Central Scouting's Chris Bordeleau told NHL.com. "He's skating hard, showing great hands and making great plays … I've been impressed. He was great skater last year, but when I saw him at the start of this season, he was even better."

The Remparts (12-3-0), who rank third in the league with 24 points, skate at Acadie-Bathurst on Friday before heading to Rimouski on Saturday. The club hopes to have Sorensen back in the lineup for its Nov. 9 home game against PEI Rocket.
