Rangers sign veteran Halpern to one-year deal

The New York Rangers have signed veteran center Jeff Halpern to a one-year, $700,000 contract.

Halpern, 36, had four goals and 12 assists in 69 games with the Washington Capitals last season. He was second among the team's forwards in shorthanded ice time per game at 1:44

In 12 NHL seasons with the Capitals, Stars, Lightning, Kings and Canadiens, Halpern has 146 goals and 212 assists in 861 games.
