Raycroft signs with Italian club

Andrew Raycroft, who split last season between the Dallas Stars and their American Hockey League affiliate, on Tuesday signed to play for Italian club Milano Rossoblu for 2012-13.

Raycroft, 32, went 2-8-0 with a 3.52 goals-against average and .858 save percentage in 10 games with the Stars as Kari Lehtonen's backup. He was placed on waivers Dec. 28 and sent to the Texas Stars of the AHL when Dallas recalled Richard Bachman to serve as Lehtonen's backup. In 21 AHL games, Raycroft went 9-10-1 with a 3.16 GAA and .891 save percentage.

A 1998 fifth-round pick of the Boston Bruins, Raycroft won the 2004 Calder Trophy as the League's top rookie, but failed to establish himself beyond that first great season, when he won 29 games with a 2.05 GAA and .926 save percentage. In 11 NHL seasons with the Bruins, Maple Leafs, Avalanche, Canucks and Stars, he's 113-114-21 with 10 ties in 280 games.
