Goalie Danis signs with Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers have signed goalie Yann Danis to a one-year contract, the team announced Sunday.

Danis, 31, played one game for the Oilers last season.

He has played in 50 NHL games in parts of four seasons starting in 2005-06. He is 16-21-4 with a 2.71 goals-against average and .911 save percentage.

His career high is 31 games with the New York Islanders in 2008-09. He also has played for the Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils.

Quote of the Day

We've got to find a way to win a game. He's played well in the minors, now he gets his opportunity. We tried [with Jonathan Bernier]. The way I look at it, you get opportunities and you make the most of it. That's what [James Reimer] did. Now another opportunity is here and Sparks ... you gotta grab it. Is he ready? We'll find out.
