Coach's Challenge: FLA @ EDM - 6:39 of the First Period

At 6:39 of the first period in the Panthers/Oilers game, Florida requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether Edmonton was off-side prior to Taylor Hall’s goal.

After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Linesman determined that Edmonton’s Teddy Purcell was off-side prior to the goal. According to Rule 78.7, “The standard for overturning the call in the event of a ‘GOAL’ call on the ice is that the Linesman, after reviewing any and all available replays and consulting with the Toronto Video Room, determines that one or more Players on the attacking team preceded the puck into the attacking zone prior to the goal being scored and that, as a result, the play should have been stopped for an “Off-side” infraction; where this standard is met, the goal will be disallowed.”

Therefore the original call is overturned – no goal Edmonton Oilers.

At the Rink: Senators at Capitals

Forward Alex Ovechkin will try to become the 43rd player in NHL history to score 500 goals when the Washington Capitals play the Ottawa Senators at Verizon Center on Sunday (7 p.m. ET; SN, TVA Sports, CSN-DC).

Ovechkin scored twice Saturday, including the game-winner in overtime, in Washington's 4-3 victory against the New York Rangers to reach 499 goals. He has 24 goals in 40 games this season.

"I think we talked about this when he was chasing [Sergei] Fedorov's record [for most goals by a Russian player]," Capitals coach Barry Trotz told MonumentalNetwork.com. "Our fans, the people that have supported him for so long, they've seen a lot of his goals, a lot of his celebrations. It would only be fitting if he could get it done at home. He's got a chance to do that [Sunday]. I don't think he's nervous about it or anything like that. I think he was more nervous about chasing Fedorov down."

Ovechkin will try to score No. 500 against Senators goalie Andrew Hammond, who he never has scored against.

Situation Room Initiated Challenge: BUF @ WPG - 19:34 of the Third Period

At 19:34 of the third period in the Sabres/Jets game, the Situation Room initiated a review under the terms of a Coach’s Challenge to examine whether Buffalo was off-side prior to Sam Reinhart's goal.

After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Linesman determined that the Sabres entered the attacking zone legally prior to the goal.

Therefore the original call stands – good goal Buffalo Sabres.

At the Rink: Red Wings at Ducks

ANAHEIM -- The Detroit Red Wings will put their three-game winning streak on the line against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on Sunday (8 p.m. ET; FS-D, PRIME, FS-SD).

The Red Wings have gone coast-to-coast on their longest road trip of the season. The six-game trip began at the Buffalo Sabres on Jan. 2 and will end at the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday. A fourth straight win would be a season high, but the Red Wings have lost their past four games against the Ducks.

Goalie Petr Mrazek will start for the Red Wings. Mrazek has allowed one goal in his past two starts. He has played all three games of Detroit's current trip and had a 35-save performance Friday at the San Jose Sharks.

At 0:56 of the second period in the Sabres/Jets game, Buffalo requested a Coach’s Challenge to review whether Winnipeg was off-side prior to Mathieu Perreault’s goal.

After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Linesman determined that the Jets entered the attacking zone legally prior to the goal.

Therefore the original call stands – good goal Winnipeg Jets.

Since the Coach’s Challenge did not result in the original call being overturned, the Buffalo Sabres forfeit their time-out.

At the Rink: Panthers at Oilers

EDMONTON -- The Florida Panthers will attempt to extend their franchise-high winning streak to 12 games against the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place on Sunday (9:30 p.m. ET; SN1, FS-F).

The Panthers (25-12-4) have not lost since the Boston Bruins defeated them 3-1 on Dec. 12.

"We don't worry about the number of the streak. It's nice and everybody knows where it's at, but it's one game at a time, and we want to be a playoff team," Panthers coach Gerard Gallant said. "We want to get as many points as we can and we'll just worry about the game at hand and try to take care of the two points tonight."

Florida is on a season-high six-game road trip, which began with a 5-1 win at the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday and 3-2 win at the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

At the Rink: Devils at Wild

Defenseman David Schlemko and forward Tyler Kennedy will return to the New Jersey Devils lineup against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center on Sunday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN).

Schlemko (lower body) and Kennedy (upper body) each missed the past two games, and along with forward Joseph Blandisi, they will fortify a Devils lineup missing five players because of injuries.

Blandisi, recalled from Albany of the American Hockey League on Saturday after forward Jiri Tlusty was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, will play to the left of center Adam Henrique and right wing Lee Stempniak on the second line. He has seven goals and 22 points in 24 games for Albany.

"We feel like he did a nice job at center and wing, but we liked his game in Buffalo [Dec. 15] when he was on the wing," Devils coach John Hynes told Northjersey.com. "Even the versatility to have him in the lineup where we might even use him at center at some times tonight (helps), but we'd like to see him with Henrique and Stempniak and see what he can do there."

At the Rink: Avalanche at Blackhawks

CHICAGO -- Backed by goalie Semyon Varlamov, the Colorado Avalanche will try to end the Chicago Blackhawks' season-high six-game winning streak at United Center on Sunday (7 p.m. ET; ALT, WGN).

The streak includes Chicago's 4-3 overtime win against the Avalanche at Pepsi Center on Dec. 31, when the Blackhawks ended Varlamov's eight-game winning streak against them.

Varlamov is 11-3-1 with a 1.93 goals-against average, .946 save percentage and three shutouts in 16 career appearances against the Blackhawks.

"It was certainly nice to beat him," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said after Chicago's morning skate. "Some of the games when we played against them, he had unbelievable games and the chances were high in our favor, and we just couldn't get them [past him]."

Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.

Mikael Granlund, C, Minnesota Wild

DraftKings price: $4,300

DraftKings owners have to dig deep with six games on the NHL schedule Sunday and Granlund can provide a good return at home against the New Jersey Devils. Although the second-line center has been quiet in two games since scoring a goal and two assists in a 4-2 win Tuesday at the Columbus Blue Jackets, Granlund has done well against New Jersey in his career with three points (two goals, one assist) and six shots on goal in four games.
