The injury-riddled Ottawa Senators could welcome back two players early next week.

Coach Paul MacLean stated that forwards Peter Regin and Milan Michalek might return to the lineup on Monday.

Regin has missed two games with an injury to his chest while Michalek has missed one game with a knee injury.

With Jason Spezza out indefinitely after having back surgery and the devastating loss of dynamic defenseman Erik Karlsson to a lacerated Achilles tendon, times are certainly tough in Ottawa.

But alternate captain Chris Phillips feels that the best thing for his team to do is avoid dwelling on the situation.

“Our team is a lot better with those guys in the lineup. For us right now, the biggest thing is to not be thinking about that,” Phillips said. “[We have to be] confident in this group, in our ability and in the guys we have in to replace them. As a group, we all have to pick it up and try to fill those roles.”

Left wing Jonathan Drouin of the Halifax Mooseheads has taken his offensive game to new heights this season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The No. 3 player on NHL Central Scouting's midterm release of the top 2013 draft-eligible North American skaters, Drouin is on an 18-game point scoring streak for the Mooseheads. During that stretch, he's accounted for 18 goals and 37 points.

The 5-foot-10.75, 185-pounder leads Halifax with 33 goals, 44 assists and 77 points in 37 games -- a 2.08 points-per-game average. In 70 career games with the Mooseheads, he's struck for 40 goals and 106 points.

Chris Kreider's demotion to the American Hockey League lasted one game.

Kreider, sent down Friday to Connecticut, was recalled by the New York Rangers a day later. He played for the Whale on Friday night but did not score in a 4-1 victory.

A sudden sensation when Kreider made his NHL debut during the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he has struggled in his first full season as a professional. Kreider has a goal and an assist in seven games for the Rangers this season, and he was a healthy scratch just before the demotion.

TORONTO -- The Ottawa Senators visit the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. It will be the Senators' first game since losing star defenseman Erik Karlsson to injury.

Forwards Dave Dziurzynski and Derek Grant will make their NHL debuts along with defenseman Eric Gryba. Ottawa recalled the trio from the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League on Friday.

Under the daunting spotlight of a nationally televised game in Canada, Senators coach Paul Maclean said he expects the three rookies to relish the opportunity and stick to the basics.

“We just want them to be them; we are not asking anyone to be anybody that they can’t be,” Maclean said. “Just come and play and enjoy it. It’s a great spot to show everyone you can play in the League.”

GLENDALE, Ariz. – The Columbus Blue Jackets lost center Artem Anisimov early in the second period of Friday’s 2-1 loss at the Los Angeles Kings, but coach Todd Richards said the injury was just a bruise. Anisimov was walking without a limp and without a boot after the game and may be able to play Saturday.

Defenseman James Wisniewski remains away from the team to be with his wife for the birth of their daughter. Steve Mason is expected to be in the net tonight.

For the Phoenix Coyotes, Derek Morris is day-to-day with an upper-body injury he aggravated in the first period of Thursday’s 3-0 loss at the Nashville Predators. Coach Dave Tippett said center Matthew Lombardi, out since the second week of the season, could be ready to go as early as Monday against the Calgary Flames.

The Philadelphia Flyers did not skate Saturday morning after arriving late Friday night following a dispiriting 5-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center.

Philadelphia may have lost more than the game; defenseman Kimmo Timonen did not play in the third period with a lower-body injury and his status for Saturday night remains in question.

Though there’s been no confirmation from the Flyers, Brian Boucher should get the start in goal over Ilya Bryzgalov.

The Canadiens also will be playing their backup goaltender with starter Carey Price out because of a stomach flu. Peter Budaj will be seeking his first win of the season in his third start.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. – The New York Islanders ended a five-game losing streak Thursday night when they rallied for a 4-3 shootout victory against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

The Islanders (5-7-1) hope to build off that win Saturday evening, when they play host to the New Jersey Devils at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. New Jersey, which also rallied for a 5-3 win on home ice against the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday, sit atop the Eastern Conference with 21 points (9-2-3).

Johan Hedberg gets the start in goal for New Jersey. Hedberg, who turns 40 in May, has allowed two goals in three appearances this season. He is 2-0-1 with a 0.65 goals-against average and .973 save percentage. Hedberg stopped all 22 shots he faced in the Devils’ 3-0 win against the Islanders on Feb. 3 at the Coliseum.

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price will miss the game Saturday night against the Philadelphia Flyers with the stomach flu.

The club has recalled Robert Mayer from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League to back up Peter Budaj.

St. Louis Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong announced forward Jamie Langenbrunner underwent successful surgery on his left hip today. Langenbrunner will miss the remainder of the season.
