According to Rule 78.7, “The standard for overturning the call in the event of a ‘GOAL’ call on the ice is that the Referee, after reviewing any and all available replays and consulting with the Toronto Video Room, determines that the goal should have been disallowed due to ‘Interference on the Goalkeeper,’ as described in Rules 69.1, 69.3 and 69.4.”
Therefore the original call is overturned – no goal Pacific Division.
At 0:38 of overtime in the Flyers/Capitals game, the Situation Room initiated a review under the terms of a Coach’s Challenge to review whether Philadelphia’s Jakub Voracek interfered with Washington goaltender Braden Holtby prior to his goal.
After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee confirmed no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line.
At 20:00 of the third period in the Sabres/Senators game, video review confirmed that time had expired before the puck crossed the Buffalo goal line. No goal Ottawa.
At 12:22 of the third period in the Buffalo Sabres/Ottawa Senators game, video review supported the referee's call on the ice that Bobby Ryan's shot did not cross the Buffalo goal line. No goal Ottawa.
At 19:19 of the second period in the Columbus Blue Jackets/Montreal Canadiens game, the Situation Room initiated a video review to further examine Brendan Gallagher's shot at 18:14. Video review supported the referee's call on the ice that the puck did not completely cross the Columbus goal line. No goal Montreal.
At 5:22 of the second period in the Blue Jackets/Canadiens game, Columbus requested a Coach's Challenge to review whether Montreal was off-side prior to their goal.
After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Linesman determined that the Canadiens entered the attacking zone legally prior to the goal.
At 6:55 of the first period in the Coyotes/Jets game, Arizona requested a Coach's Challenge to review whether Dustin Byfuglien interfered with goaltender Louis Domingue before the puck entered the Arizona net.
After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee confirmed no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line.
Therefore the original call stands – good goal Winnipeg Jets.
Since the Coach’s Challenge did not result in the original call being overturned, the Arizona Coyotes forfeit their time-out.
At 6:42 of the first period in the Sabres/Senators game, Buffalo initiated a Coach's Challenge to review whether an Ottawa player interfered with goaltender Robin Lehner before the puck entered the Buffalo net.
After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee confirmed no goaltender interference infractions occurred before the puck crossed the goal line.
Therefore the original call stands – good goal Ottawa Senators.
Since the Coach’s Challenge did not result in the original call being overturned, the Buffalo Sabres forfeit their time-out.
At 2:47 of overtime in the Coyotes/Wild game, the Situation Room initiated a review under the terms of a Coach’s Challenge to review the “Interference on the Goalkeeper” decision that resulted in a “no goal” call.
After reviewing all available replays and consulting with NHL Hockey Operations staff, the Referee determined that Arizona’s Mikkel Boedker interfered with Minnesota goaltender Devan Dubnyk before the puck crossed the goal line.
Therefore the original call stands – no goal Arizona Coyotes.
At 18:06 of the third period in the Bruins/Flyers game, video review confirmed the referee's call on the ice that Brett Connolly's stick was at or below the height of the crossbar when he deflected the puck into the Philadelphia net. According to Rule 38.4 (vi) "The determining factor is where the puck makes contact with the stick in relation to the crossbar. If the puck makes contact with the portion of the stick that is at or below the level of the crossbar and enters the goal, this goal shall be allowed". Good goal Boston.
