Senators' MacArthur set to play Game 6 vs. Canadiens

OTTAWA -- Ottawa Senators forward Clarke MacArthur said he will play in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference First Round against the Montreal Canadiens at Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday (6 p.m. ET; CBC, TVA Sports, NBCSN).

MacArthur left Game 5 in the second period after he said he aggravated a nagging injury in the first period of the Senators' 5-1 win. The Senators, who lost the first three games of the best-of-7 series, can tie it with a win Sunday and force a Game 7 in Montreal on Tuesday.

"I think we had a 3-0 lead at the time so I said, 'Let's see what the young guys are made of. I'm going to call it a night,'" MacArthur said. "I chased P.K. [Subban, Canadiens defenseman] around for a couple of shifts and said that was it."

MacArthur skated Sunday morning and said a day's rest and some treatment made a big difference.

Canadiens' Parenteau to play Game 6 vs. Senators

OTTAWA -- Montreal Canadiens forward PA Parenteau will be back in the lineup for Game 6 of their Eastern Conference First Round series against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday (6 p.m. ET; CBC, NBCSN, TVA Sports).

The Canadiens lead the best-of-7 series 3-2.

Canadiens coach Michel Therrien would not confirm who would be coming out to make room for Parenteau, who has not played since Game 1. He missed Game 2 because of an upper-body injury and the next three games as a healthy scratch.

"When he’s in the prime of his game he has a lot of poise with the puck," Therrien said. "He can make some good plays, he's responsible at both ends of the ice and he can help us on the power play."

Senators have renewed confidence before Game 6

OTTAWA -- Bolstered by two straight wins, the Ottawa Senators are brimming with confidence heading into Game 6 of their Eastern Conference First Round series against the Montreal Canadiens.

The Senators will be looking to tie the best-of-7 series, which they trail 3-2, at Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday (6 p.m. ET; CBC, TVA Sports).

"Personally, I think the series is ours to lose right now. We're feeling really good," Senators defenseman Eric Gryba said Saturday. "I know they're feeling the pressure right now. We've played some good hockey and the series could be different right now. It could be 3-2 us right now. Us winning these two games and coming home now, I'm sure they're feeling it a little bit."

Canadiens say Senators' Anderson not in their heads

BROSSARD, Quebec -- Ottawa Senators goalie Craig Anderson has made 120 saves on the 123 shots the Montreal Canadiens have taken at him in the past three games of their Eastern Conference First Round series, winning twice.

But for those concerned that Anderson might be getting in the Canadiens' heads, forward Dale Weise has a message for you: Don't bother.

"We're not a team that scores very much anyways, so goalies can't really get in our heads," Weise said Saturday. "We don't score that much as it is, so goalies don't really rattle us. Every goalie's had our number all year."

Senators sacrifice getting them back in series

OTTAWA -- In the eyes of Ottawa Senators coach Dave Cameron, the smile on the face of forward Jean-Gabriel Pageau says a lot about why the Senators are back in their Eastern Conference First Round series against the Montreal Canadiens.

After falling behind 3-0 in the best-of-7 series, the Senators have won two in a row and with a win in Game 6 at Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday (6 p.m. ET; CBC, NBCSN, TVA Sports) can force a seventh game at Montreal on Tuesday.

A big reason the Senators are back in this series has been their willingness to block shots and take hits to make plays.

After blocking another big shot by Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban in the third period of the Senators' 5-1 win in Game 5 on Friday, Pageau limped to the bench and had that smile on his face.

Cameron said the willingness to make that kind of sacrifice has boosted Ottawa. The Senators have blocked 20 of Subban's shots.

Pageau has blocked 14 shots in the series to tie for the Senators lead.

"Some guys do it and do it well and other guys not so much, but that's just the nature of it," Cameron said. "It lifts a team for sure. It lifts the bench. He comes off and he's smiling. He's in pain and he's smiling. That's a huge contradiction, but it's winning hockey, we call it."

Canadiens' frustration on power play mounts

MONTREAL -- The Montreal Canadiens' frustration on the power play continued Friday at Bell Centre in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference First Round series against the Ottawa Senators.

The Canadiens went 0-for-3 with the man-advantage in a 5-1 loss; they are 1-for-19 through five games. Montreal scored its only power-play goal so far in the best-of-7 series in the second period of Game 2.

Ottawa's penalty kill went 6-for-6 in Games 4 and 5, helping the Senators extend the series.

"It is frustrating," Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban said. "You can't sit here and pretend that it's not. It is. It's frustrating when you have power plays and you can't make the difference there. It's a game of bounces. They score a power-play goal that goes off my stick. That's just what you need sometimes. You need a bounce."

The Canadiens, who lead the series 3-2, will look to get that bounce in Game 6 on Sunday at Canadian Tire Centre (6 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports).

Senators' Stone honored by Calder nomination

MONTREAL -- Ottawa Senators forward Mark Stone is too worried about surviving in the Stanley Cup Playoffs to be overly concerned about his nomination for the Calder Trophy.

But the fact the Senators are in this position is a big reason why Stone will be going to Las Vegas for the first time for the NHL Awards. Stone, Florida Panthers defenseman Aaron Ekblad and Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau were named finalists for the League rookie of the year award Thursday.

"It was a great feeling," Stone said Friday while preparing for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference First Round against the Montreal Canadiens (7 p.m. ET; CBC, CNBC, TVA Sports). "Just a little reward. To get some consideration is always nice. It's one of those things where you'll probably look back on it more in the summer than you would right now."

Senators' Chiasson in, Hoffman to get more ice time

MONTREAL -- Ottawa Senators coach Dave Cameron is changing a winning lineup.

Coming off the first win of their Eastern Conference First Round series against the Montreal Canadiens, the Senators will have a different look in Game 5 on Friday at Bell Centre (7 p.m. ET; CBC, CNBC, TVA Sports).

Alex Chiasson will return to the lineup after sitting out the past two games and Mike Hoffman will stay on the second line with Mika Zibanejad and Bobby Ryan.

Hoffman started Game 4 on the fourth line with Zack Smith and Chris Neil but was moved to the Zibanejad line early and scored the only goal of the game.

Canadiens stress execution as they try to close series

BROSSARD, Quebec -- Execution is the Montreal Canadiens' mantra heading into Game 5 of their Eastern Conference First Round series against the Ottawa Senators at Bell Centre on Friday (7 p.m. ET; CNBC, CBC, TVA Sports).

Montreal split a pair of games in Ottawa and holds a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 series after winning the first two games at home.

"We like to play at home," Canadiens defenseman Andrei Markov said after the morning skate Friday. "Our fans give us extra energy and we just have to play our best and try to focus on our game and bring our best [Friday]."

Canadiens winning despite power-play slump

BROSSARD, Quebec -- The Montreal Canadiens' power play is struggling so much four games into the Stanley Cup Playoffs that even a moral victory would boost team morale.

Montreal holds a 3-1 advantage in its best-of-7 Eastern Conference First Round series against the Ottawa Senators despite scoring once in 16 power-play opportunities. Left wing Max Pacioretty scored the Canadiens' only power-play goal of the series so far in the second period of Game 2, which Montreal won 3-2 in overtime.

Game 5 is Friday at Bell Centre (7 p.m. ET; CNBC, CBC, TVA).
