Flames aim to snap home skid against Coyotes

CALGARY -- It hasn't been home sweet home for the Calgary Flames of late.

The Flames will look to snap a franchise-record seven-game losing skid on home ice when hosting the Phoenix Coyotes at Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday.

Since taking a 4-3 shootout win over the St. Louis Blues on Dec. 23, the Flames haven't found a winning formula on 'Dome ice and have been outscored 22-4 during their spell.

It gets worse.

Their last regulation victory at home came on Dec. 4 in a 4-1 win over the same Coyotes team they'll host as Calgary kicks off a five-game homestand.

Flyers' Voracek ready to face Hurricanes

Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek will be in the lineup Wednesday against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Voracek left the Flyers' 4-3 shootout loss to the New York Islanders on Monday midway through the third period with what the team has called an upper-body injury. It was reported by multiple media outlets that the injury was to Voracek's left hand. He did not take part in the team's morning skate Tuesday, but the game scheduled for that evening was postponed until Wednesday due to a snowstorm and the extra time may have helped Voracek's chances to play.

In 50 games Voracek has 14 goals and 35 points. He hasn't missed a game since March 8-11, 2012.

Canadiens reunite Markov, Subban; Murray in lineup

PITTSBURGH -- The Montreal Canadiens will make several lineup changes entering their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday at Consol Energy Center.

Defensemen P.K. Subban and Andrei Markov will reunite to form a pairing Montreal utilized during a 10-game unbeaten streak from Nov. 19 to Dec. 7. Former Penguins defenseman Douglas Murray will skate after being scratched on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

"It's a little special when [you compete] against your buddies and there are bragging rights on the line," said Murray, who will be paired with Francis Bouillon. "I don't think you have to warn anybody in this locker room about [Pittsburgh]. They've been a top team for a long time and they're up in the standings again."

Red Wings get Ericsson back against Blackhawks

DETROIT -- They're still dealing with a glut of injuries, but the Detroit Red Wings are slowly starting to get some players back into their lineup.

The latest is top-pair defenseman Jonathan Ericsson, who will play Wednesday night against the rival Chicago Blackhawks at Joe Louis Arena (8 p.m. ET, NBCSN, TSN2). Ericsson, who's missed two 10-game stints for separate injuries, said he's "good to go," now that a broken rib that sidelined him since late December is healed enough to play.

"It's been [feeling] good, I just knew it was going to take some time," Ericsson said. "I know it was something that wasn't going to get better overnight, so I've been patient about it, I've been trying to stay positive and all that. ... I think the healing process has been faster maybe than they thought, so that's good."

Ovechkin not in lineup when Capitals host Senators

WASHINGTON -- Alex Ovechkin will miss the Washington Capitals' game against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday with a lower-body injury.

Ovechkin "got a little banged up" in Washington's 4-1 loss to the New York Rangers on Sunday, coach Adam Oates said. He did not participate in pregame warmups after being deemed a "game-time decision" Tuesday morning.

Jets provide latest challenge to Ducks' home run

A win by the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday will move the Ducks into second place among the NHL's longest home winning streaks to start a season. The Ducks are 20-0-2 on home ice, where they have won 10 straight games.

The Ducks are the fifth team since 1973-74 to record at least one point in each of its first 20-plus home games in a season. The 1979-80 Philadelphia Flyers (19-0-7) own the record of 26 straight.

The Jets, however, are not an easy out, especially since Paul Maurice took over as coach. Winnipeg has won three straight games after losing five in a row and gets Evander Kane back in the lineup after he missed the past four games with a laceration on right hand.

"They're going to be excited," Ducks center Nick Bonino said. "You look at their team, and they're pretty solid through all four lines, defense and in net. With us and our winning streak, it'll make them play a little harder."

Canucks coping without Henrik Sedin, Tortorella

EDMONTON -- The Vancouver Canucks will be missing their captain and coach Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers.

For the first time in nearly 10 years, Henrik Sedin will not suit up for Vancouver, bringing a consecutive games streak of 679 to an end.

Sedin is out with a rib injury. His brother, Daniel Sedin, is the only member of the Canucks to know what it's like not having him in the lineup.

"I'm the only guy in this room that has ever played a game without him," Daniel Sedin said. "All the other guys have never played a game without him. It's going to be different, but like with any other injury, you need guys to step up and that's what we're looking for [Tuesday].

"Everyone knows what he can do and he's going to be missed, but other guys have to step up and fill that spot."

Maple Leafs enjoy run; Parenteau back for Avalanche

DENVER -- It wasn't a coincidence that Toronto Maple Leafs center Tyler Bozak wore an orange-and-blue-striped dress shirt Tuesday while a handful of teammates took part in an optional skate at Pepsi Center.

Bozak is a Denver Broncos fan, and those are the Super Bowl-bound team's colors. Bozak, who attended the University of Denver for two years and makes his offseason home in Denver, is friends with Toronto native and Broncos offensive tackle Orlando Franklin, who will attend the game Tuesday between the Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche.

"I told him to bring Peyton [Manning], but I don't know if he's going to," said Bozak, who has been limited to 27 games because of hamstring and oblique injuries.

Bozak is excited about playing before friends and the fact the Maple Leafs have won five games in a row to move back into the hunt for a Stanley Cup Playoff berth.

Flyers' Voracek questionable vs. Hurricanes

[EDIT: The game Tuesday between the Philadelphia Flyers and Carolina Hurricanes has been postponed due to weather and will be made up Wednesday at 6 p.m.]

Philadelphia Flyers forward Jakub Voracek is questionable for his team's game Wednesday against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Voracek left the Flyers' 4-3 shootout loss to the New York Islanders on Monday midway through the third period with what the team has called an upper-body injury. It's been reported by multiple media outlets that it's an injury to Voracek's left hand. He did not take part in the team's morning skate Tuesday.

In 50 games Voracek has 14 goals and 35 points. If he can't play it would be just the 10th game he's missed in six NHL seasons, and first since March 8-11, 2012.

Stars hope meeting, top-line reunion help effort

DALLAS -- Hours after the Dallas Stars lost 4-1 at the Nashville Predators on Monday, Stars coach Lindy Ruff called a closed-door meeting in the locker room at American Airlines Center on Tuesday morning.

The meeting, which also included general manager Jim Nill, lasted for approximately 20 minutes.

"It was good," Ruff said of the meeting. "I've been through stretches like this and it's believing in your system, trusting in your system, it's being able to trust the guy next to you. The two words I look for and I want the players to dig down and grab are energy and emotion. I want to see energy and emotion [Tuesday]. And when the game's over I want them to be proud of the effort they put in, and we'll take the result after that."

The loss to the Predators extended Dallas road winless skid to five (0-4-1) and dropped the Stars to 1-8-1 in January.
