The Philadelphia Flyers did not skate Saturday morning after arriving late Friday night following a dispiriting 5-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center.

Philadelphia may have lost more than the game; defenseman Kimmo Timonen did not play in the third period with a lower-body injury and his status for Saturday night remains in question.

Though there’s been no confirmation from the Flyers, Brian Boucher should get the start in goal over Ilya Bryzgalov.

The Canadiens also will be playing their backup goaltender with starter Carey Price out because of a stomach flu. Peter Budaj will be seeking his first win of the season in his third start.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. – The New York Islanders ended a five-game losing streak Thursday night when they rallied for a 4-3 shootout victory against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

The Islanders (5-7-1) hope to build off that win Saturday evening, when they play host to the New Jersey Devils at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. New Jersey, which also rallied for a 5-3 win on home ice against the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday, sit atop the Eastern Conference with 21 points (9-2-3).

Johan Hedberg gets the start in goal for New Jersey. Hedberg, who turns 40 in May, has allowed two goals in three appearances this season. He is 2-0-1 with a 0.65 goals-against average and .973 save percentage. Hedberg stopped all 22 shots he faced in the Devils’ 3-0 win against the Islanders on Feb. 3 at the Coliseum.

MONTREAL – Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price will miss the game Saturday night against the Philadelphia Flyers with the stomach flu.

The club has recalled Robert Mayer from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League to back up Peter Budaj.

St. Louis Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong announced forward Jamie Langenbrunner underwent successful surgery on his left hip today. Langenbrunner will miss the remainder of the season.

Prior to Friday, Datsyuk had registered goals in three straight games. It was the first time in more than a year that the Wings' Russian star had scored in three consecutive games. He has six goals and eight assists in 13 games.

Detroit recalled rookie forward Gustav Nyquist from their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, to take Datsyuk's place. He'll play with center Valtteri Filppula and forward Justin Abdelkader on the second line.

Sean Couturier

Couturier, who missed the opening two games of Philadelphia's current six-game road trip against the Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets, has two goals and five points in 12 games. He had 13 goals and 27 points in 77 games for the Flyers as a rookie last season.

Couturier will likely center Maxime Talbot and Zac Rinaldo on the fourth line to begin the game. In seven career games against New Jersey, Couturier has one goal, three points and a plus-5 rating.

Gabriel Landeskog

The report states that the 20-year-old Colorado Avalanche captain skated for an unspecified length of time at the team's practice facility, with club medical personnel watching. Neither Landeskog nor the team would comment on where Landeskog is in his recovery.

It's unclear when Landeskog will skate again.

Landeskog was hit hard by the San Jose Sharks' Brad Stuart during a Jan. 26 game. Landeskog was able to return after missing a few shifts, but has yet to play again. He has one goal and a plus-3 rating in four games.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Aaron Rome was a popular player when he left the Vancouver Canucks and signed with the Dallas Stars last summer.

The defenseman returned as a franchise leader Friday.

As Rome walked down a hallway that became familiar during three seasons in Vancouver, he couldn't help but notice his name on the wall where the Canucks honor past team award winners. Atop each category, from all-stars and MVPs, to most exciting player and unsung hero, was a piece of white hockey tape with Rome’s full name scribbled across it.

Rome, who often made headlines in Vancouver for getting picked to play ahead of more established, higher-paid players, took it in stride.

"Nothing new," Rome said. "It's all good fun. Guys like to have fun here and I had a lot of fun in the three years I was here."

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Jaromir Jagr celebrated his 41st birthday Friday in the city where his NHL career started, giving the Dallas Stars forward a chance to reflect on being drafted almost 23 years ago.

The Pittsburgh Penguins picked Jagr with the fifth choice of the 1990 NHL Draft, which was held at BC Place, across the street from where he will play against the Vancouver Canucks on Friday.

A lot has changed since then, including the building the Canucks play in, as well as five players who will play with and against him Friday who hadn't been born when Jagr was drafted.

Evidently Jagr's opinion of himself has changed too.

"Back then I never thought I am going to play NHL," he said. "I didn't think I am good enough to play NHL and I was wondering why the Pittsburgh Penguins draft me. I was very thin, not very strong."
