NHL Live talks to Gretzky from Dodger Stadium

Wayne Gretzky will be at Dodger Stadium on Monday to welcome the NHL's ice truck, and NHL Live with Steve Mears and E.J. Hradek, at 5 p.m. ET on NHL Network, will talk live with The Great One. The ice truck is arriving in Los Angeles to begin the process of turning the legendary baseball stadium into an outdoor hockey rink for the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series game between the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, Jan. 25.

The Winnipeg Jets made a coaching change Sunday, replacing Claude Noel with Paul Maurice, and analyst Barry Melrose will go Behind the Bench to give his thoughts on this and other coaching moves in the NHL over the past week.

New York Islanders center John Tavares is the League's No. 1 star of the week and he'll call in to talk about the team's recent hot streak.

NHL Live talks Jack Adams, Blues, college hockey

NHL.com offers up its thoughts on who leads the race for the Jack Adams Award at the midway point, and today on NHL Live, at 5 p.m. ET on NHL Network, Barry Melrose will join Steve Mears and E.J. Hradek to talk about coaches around the League and who he thinks deserves to win the honor.

It's a six-game evening including the St. Louis Blues visiting the Vancouver Canucks. The Blues now own the Central Division lead over the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks via a tiebreaker, and analyst Darren Pang will join us from the Arena Cam out in Vancouver to talk about their red-hot play.

Also, former NHL player and Harvard coach Ted Donato will be on set to talk about the Crimson's season on this weeks college hockey report.

NHL Live talks to Bossy, has news on Sabres new GM

The Buffalo Sabres have found their man, and NHL Live with Steve Mears and E.J. Hradek, at 5 p.m. ET on NHL Network, will have the reaction on Tim Murray being named as their new general manager.

It's a nine-game night in the League and we'll preview the game between the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning by checking in on the Arena Cam at Tampa Bay Times Forum with Capitals radio voice John Walton.

Vanek talks Islanders' surge, Sochi Games

New York Islanders forward Thomas Vanek joined NHL Live to discuss the recent success of his team and the honor of being named to play for Austria at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

"Expectations are we go there and try to win the gold, obviously," Vanek said. "We're happy to be there … we know we're the big underdog, but it's fun. We have guys who can play. We have to play smart and for us we need good goaltending. If we can get goaltending and get a lot of big saves, you just never know in this game."

Coyotes' Smith 'excited' to play for Canada

NHL Live was joined by Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith, who will compete for the Canada at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

"I was pretty excited and very honored," Smith said. "I heard it's going to be a lot different from Vancouver. Obviously it's not the Olympics in your home country, but it will definitely be a new experience for me and probably a lot of guys, and I'm looking forward to it."
