Fowler, Palmieri talk Ducks-Kings Stadium Series game

Anaheim Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler and forward Kyle Palmieri joined NHL Live in studio to discuss playing the Los Angeles Kings in the upcoming 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series.

The Ducks and Kings will play at Dodger Stadium on Jan. 25, and the buzz in Los Angeles and Anaheim is huge over the anticipation of what will be a different experience.

"All our fans are really excited for it and I know the Kings fans are excited for it," Palmieri said. "Outdoor game, 55-60 degree weather at night, it should be a cool experience."

Each time the Ducks and Kings compete against each other, says Fowler, it produces the intensity of a playoff game.

"The crowd's into it no matter where you are," Fowler said. "It just has that special buzz in the air whenever those teams come to town. Those are games you gear up for and really get excited for. It's a special rivalry, especially in California."

Flyers' Hartnell talks new book "HartnellDown"

NHL Live was joined by Philadelphia Flyers forward Scott Hartnell to talk about his new children's book "HartnellDown."

"It's kind of like an autobiography of my life, I guess, from when I was two years old learning to skate, falling down and getting back up," Hartnell said. "It's a rhyming book for kids and I'm really happy about it. The feedback so far has been super positive and people are buying it, which is great.

"It was such a fun process, to be honest. My sister did a lot of the work, finding the words to rhyme and keeping the flow going. It turned out to be a great process."

Flames' Burke talks front office moves on NHL Live

Calgary Flames president of hockey operations Brian Burke joined NHL Live to discuss the decision to relieve general manager Jay Feaster and assistant GM John Weisbrod of their duties.

Burke explained how he submitted a report on the state of the team and front office staff to ownership, and subsequently made his recommendation, part of which was to not take over the GM reigns.

"I think it would look pretty poor on me to go back now to the owners and [Flames president and CEO] Ken King and say, 'I know that's what we talked about, but I want this job,'" Burke said. "I think if my ulterior motive was to get Jay's job, I probably wouldn't have been rational or fair or balanced in that report, which I was."
