Tlusty is a pending unrestricted free agent and Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis told the Raleigh News & Observer on Monday that any players moved will most likely be pending free agents.

Tlusty has 13 goals in 51 games this season, but the Hurricanes are 15th in the Eastern Conference.

"Obviously I know the deal and know what they expect to do," Tlusty told the Raleigh News & Observer on Tuesday. "I'm trying to block it out of my mind and just play the game I know how to play. You need stay really focused on the game and that's what I'm trying to do.

"It's kind of hard but it is what it is. Other guys go through it in their careers and I'm going through it right now. It's a part of the business and you have to understand as a player what's the management plan. My plan is to go out there and do things right."

NHL Live with Steve Mears and E.J. Hradek, at 5 p.m. ET on NHL Network, will present the NHL Trade Deadline edition of Slapshots by looking at 15 players and identifying whether they will be traded prior to March 2 at 3 p.m. ET.

Joffrey Lupul signed a five-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs two years ago because that's the place he wanted to play.

But with the Maple Leafs heading toward another season out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Lupul understands he's one of the players that could be traded before the NHL Trade Deadline comes at 3 p.m. ET on March 2.

The NHL Trade Deadline is one week away, and Steve Mears and E.J. Hradek of NHL Live counted down toward March 2 at 3 p.m. with a look at the latest buyers and sellers.

The Philadelphia Flyers were 13 points out of the Stanley Cup Playoff race on Jan. 16 but sit four points out of the second Eastern Conference wild-card spot with 20 points in their past 13 games. In addition, the Flyers could be getting defenseman Kimmo Timonen (blood clots) back as soon as Saturday against the New York Rangers, which Hradek said puts them in a unique situation. Including Timonen, the Flyers will have nine healthy veteran defensemen under contract, which likely makes them sellers at the deadline.

Carolina Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis indicated he will probably be active before the NHL Trade Deadline, at 3 p.m. ET on March 2, but any players moved will most likely be unrestricted free agents, according to the Raleigh News & Observer.

"You never say never on re-signing them, but at this point we're headed down the road of moving as many pieces as we can and getting back pieces when we can," Francis told the paper. "I think at this point we will be moving UFAs, but you always get a lot of calls on players at this time of year."

One player Francis made clear he has no interest in trading is center Jordan Staal, after a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review suggested the Pittsburgh Penguins could have interest in reacquiring the No. 2 pick in the 2006 NHL Draft.

Defenseman Dennis Seidenberg said he would waive his no-trade clause if the Boston Bruins approached him with a deal they were pursuing that made sense for both sides, CSN-New England reported Thursday,

Seidenberg, who joined the Bruins in March 2010, said he only wants to be somewhere that he knows he's wanted.

"People have mentioned those rumors to me, but all I can do at the end of the day is play hockey and work hard. That's what makes you strong," Seidenberg told CSNNE.com. "If they feel like they want to move me, then there's nothing I can do. Even if I have a no-trade clause, I don't want to be here if they don't want me.

"But my job is to play with full effort on the ice, and hopefully that's enough for them to want to keep me. We'll see."

Defensemen are in high demand with the NHL Trade Deadline of March 2 approaching, which makes them a hot-button topic according to Steve Mears and E.J. Hradek of NHL Live.

Hradek named Zbynek Michalek of the Arizona Coyotes as the defenseman most likely to get traded by March 2, citing the Coyotes' desire to move players and retool. Michalek, eighth among NHL defensemen with 130 blocked shots, can become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and carries a $4 million NHL salary-cap charge.

"Expiring contract, right-shot defenseman, blocks a lot of shots, he's big," Hradek said. "He's not the most physical guy but he's big. He doesn't shy away. A guy like that I think has lot of value and I just think the Coyotes are definitely looking to move people out. The Coyotes are not going to be in the [Stanley Cup Playoffs]. They need to move assets out to get some youthful prospects and picks in there."

Forward Curtis Glencross, who has a no-movement clause in his contract, was asked by the Calgary Flames for a list of teams to which he'd accept a trade, Glencross confirmed Thursday to the Calgary Sun.

Glencross, in his seventh season with the Flames, has eight goals and 26 points in 49 games this season, but said his current role isn't where he wants it to be.

"I'm disappointed in that circumstance," he said, according to the Calgary Herald. "I feel like I can give more to this team and I can be used more on this team."

The Winnipeg Jets have dealt with their fair share of injuries this season, but the news regarding one key player is positive heading into their game Thursday against the Washington Capitals at Verizon Center.

Forward Drew Stafford, acquired in a trade Feb. 11 that sent forward Evander Kane to the Buffalo Sabres, took part in the morning skate and will be in the lineup, coach Paul Maurice said. Stafford sustained an upper-body injury Monday in a 5-4 shootout win against the Edmonton Oilers and was listed as day-to-day.

"I'm feeling good," Stafford said in video posted by the Jets. "I'm fully prepared to pick up where I left off."

Arizona Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said Wednesday he "has a price in mind" for forward Antoine Vermette and other players but doesn't expect it to be met until closer to the NHL Trade Deadline on March 2.

"Well, there's a certain ebb and flow to it. Through experience, generally the best deals come at the deadline," Maloney said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. "We have a clear price in mind for not only Antoine, but any of our people here.

"We know we're having a difficult season. We need to bring some young assets in. We want to introduce more youth and speed into our lineup, which is what we plan on doing going forward."
