Ducks rally for 6-4 victory at Phoenix
Anaheim Ducks 6, Phoenix Coyotes 4
GLENDALE, Ariz. - Anaheim's top line of Bobby Ryan, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry had combined for just nine points during Anaheim's six-game winless streak, and the heat was on for the trio to start producing.

They finally took flight Saturday night, and the Phoenix Coyotes were caught in the jet stream.

Ryan collected his second career hat trick, scoring all three during a run of five Anaheim goals, while Getzlaf had 4 assists and Perry notched a goal and a pair of assists as the Ducks rallied from two-goal deficit to beat Phoenix 6-4 Saturday night, snapping the Coyotes' seven-game winning streak amid a hail of red lights.

The 10-point night by the line made the jam-packed Pacific Division even tighter and made up for a few weeks of frustration for the Ducks.

"We've been fighting the puck, all three of us. We haven't been getting through the neutral zone and haven't gotten the offensive zone time we need," said Ryan, who had the fifth hat trick in 11 games at Arena this season - but the first by an opponent. "Hopefully it's a ball that starts rolling for us because we need to be productive every night."

Anaheim had only 10 goals while going 0-4-2 in its last six games, but finally erupted after spotting the Coyotes a 3-1 lead in the second period.

Lauri Korpikoski and Scottie Upshall had a goal and an assist each for Phoenix and Shane Doan added a season-high 3 assists for the Coyotes, who were 7-0-2 in their nine previous games and hadn't lost in regulation since Nov. 5 in Dallas. But the Coyotes cashed in just once in six power-play chances and couldn't stop the Anaheim onslaught.

"We had some opportunities that we didn't bury," said Doan, who had only four points coming into the game. "If the power play finds one to make it 4-1 or 4-2, then the game is over. But we didn't. That was the difference."

Getzlaf assisted on four of Anaheim's run of five goals, including the first NHL goal for Brandon McMillan that put them ahead for good 6:39 into the third period after the Ducks killed off a double minor penalty to Andy Sutton. Perry made it 5-3 when his centering pass deflected off Phoenix's Taylor Pyatt and past goalie Ilya Bryzgalov. Ryan, who had goals 3:16 apart in the second period, was sent in alone by Getzlaf and completed his hat trick at 8:15 to give the Ducks a commanding 6-3 lead.

"It wasn't a picture-perfect game. We gave them a two-goal lead and started getting (into) penalty trouble," Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle said. "But our penalty kill bailed us out and our big guys who get paid all the money scored some goals."

Phoenix, who also got goals by defensemen Derek Morris and Keith Yandle, had been 9-0-3 when scoring first but collapsed when a few bounces went the other way, including a fluky play at 14:13 of the second period that cost them their final lead.

As a Phoenix power play was expiring, Wojtek Wolski had Jonas Hiller down and out but his backhander hit the post. Two Coyotes lost the puck in a scramble and it wound up at center ice, where Ryan had just come off the Anaheim bench. Ryan raced in alone and beat Bryzgalov with a forehand wrister -- and instead of a 4-2 Phoenix lead, the game was tied a 3-3 and the momentum had shifted for good.

"They had a couple of guys go for it and one hit it off the other one's skate and it came right to me," Ryan said. "It was nice to be on the fortunate side of a bounce because it seems like so much lately we haven't been. We'll take a few lucky ones."

The Ducks were playing their second game in two days without forward Teemu Selanne (groin). They were also without defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky, who is day-to-day with back spasms.
