Pyatt leads Coyotes past Canucks
Phoenix Coyotes 3, Vancouver Canucks 2
Taylor Pyatt tortured one of his former teams Sunday night.

Pyatt scored his second goal of the game 5:52 into the third period and the Phoenix Coyotes extended their winning streak to six games with a 3-2 victory against the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena.

Defenseman Keith Yandle walked into the high slot untouched and fired a shot that bounced off Pyatt and under goalie Roberto Luongo's arm.

Pyatt, who played for the Canucks from 2006-09, put the Coyotes up 2-0 early in the second period before Vancouver rallied on goals from Christian Ehrhoff and Tanner Glass.

"It's different guys stepping up different nights," Pyatt said of the Coyotes' win streak. "We're getting big efforts and scoring big goals. That's what we saw a lot from us last year and we were winning all those real close one-goal games. We're starting to get back to that."

Scottie Upshall also scored, Ilya Bryzgalov made 25 saves and Phoenix, coming off wins in Calgary and Edmonton, swept a Western Canadian road trip for the first time. Bryzgalov made a couple of nice late saves and got a break when defenseman Alexander Edler hit the post off his glove with 4:53 left as the Coyotes recorded at least a point for the eighth straight game (6-0-2).

Luongo made 25 saves a night after getting pulled in a 7-1 loss to Chicago. Vancouver has lost consecutive games at home after starting 6-0-1, and four straight overall (0-3-1).

Shortly after Bryzgalov made a couple of big saves in a wild scramble two minutes into the second period, Phoenix scored two similar looking rebound goals less that 4 minutes apart.

Upshall got the Coyotes on the board when he put his own rebound past Luongo at 2:22. Then it was Pyatt pouncing on a rebound from David Schlemko's tipped point shot in the slot before spinning and firing it between Luongo's legs.

"It's tough to win games in this League and it's even tougher when you spot teams two goals," Canucks forward Ryan Kesler said. "It's inexcusable. We played really well in the first and the first means nothing if you come out like that in the second. I don't know … we need to figure this out quick."

Ehrhoff put Vancouver on the board with a shot from between the circles at 8:51 before Glass tied it five minutes later.

"In this League, it seems that one of the stats that stands out is the team that scores first usually has a better chance of winning and lately we haven't been able to score first," Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said. "Tonight, guys were ready to come out, they played hard, played hard the whole way through and we're having a tough time right now finishing and finding the back of the net.

"We've got a good core group and we're going to keep working hard and battle our way through it."
