Stars blitz Predators 6-0
Nashville Predators 0, Dallas Stars 6

The Dallas Stars enjoyed Nashville's second visit to the American Airlines Center a lot more than the first one.

The Stars stayed unbeaten in regulation by demolishing the struggling Predators 6-0 on Wednesday night. Brenden Morrow scored twice in Dallas' four-goal first period to back Marty Turco's 29-save performance.

Dallas (2-0-3) was playing its first home game since opening night, when the Predators won 3-2 in a shootout.

"We really wanted to establish a presence at home," Stars coach Marc Crawford said. "We wanted to have a big outing at home, and we did."

The Stars made sure this one would never be close. Brad Richards added a goal and two assists, and Loui Eriksson had a goal and an assist during the first-period outburst to help the Stars win at home for the first time this season.

"I'm really pleased with the way we started," Crawford said.

Eriksson completed a two-goal night on a second-period power play, and Toby Peterson added a third-period goal.

It was the third loss in a row for the Predators (2-3-0), who came out flat after Monday's 6-1 home loss to Edmonton -- a game in which they also went down 4-0 in the first period. Starting goaltender Dan Ellis gave up three goals on three shots before he was pulled less than seven minutes after the opening faceoff.

"It's happened two games in a row -- we put ourselves in a deep hole," Nashville defenseman Shea Weber said. "We've got to get off to better starts. We can't get down four and five goals."

The Predators have scored just seven goals in their five games, including one in the three consecutive losses.

"We've scored seven goals in five games now," coach Barry Trotz said. "That's not going to win you too many games. We've got to crash and bang, play stronger defense and play with urgency and a lot of focus."

Morrow beat Ellis on a one-timer from the left circle at 3:17, and Richards converted Eriksson's centering pass 40 seconds later. Eriksson's deflection at 6:31 ended Ellis' night as coach Barry Trotz brought in Pekka Rinne.

The change didn't help, as Morrow got his second of the night on the power play at 8:48 to make it 4-0. Eriksson's 5-on-3 power-play goal 1:27 into the second period gave Dallas a five-goal lead.

Turco got a break when Ryan Suter hit the right post with 11:22 left, and he made four quick saves off a scramble with just over eight minutes to play to preserve his 37th career shutout.

"He made some key saves at key times," defenseman Stephane Robidas said. "He was Marty Turco tonight."
