EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -The Los Angeles Kings rebounded from a tough loss in Calgary at the expense of the Edmonton Oilers.

Jason LaBarbera made 22 saves, and Anze Kopitar and Patrick O'Sullivan each had a goal and an assist in the Kings' 2-1 victory over the Oilers on Wednesday night.

The Kings lost 5-2 on Tuesday night in Calgary.

"From our perspective it was important to come back from our effort in Calgary," Kings coach Terry Murray said. "We came out with that kind of an attitude that we had to get some kind of redemption. We had to go out and show ourselves that we were going to dig in and play hard."

Kopitar broke a tie midway through the second period, batting the puck out of the air and into the net, to help Los Angeles snap a two game losing streak. The Kings improved to 9-9-3 with their second win in six games.

Ales Hemsky scored for Edmonton. The Oilers have lost two straight and five of their last six to drop to 9-10-2. They also have lost six straight at home

"We need to be better at home," Oilers forward Andrew Cogliano said. "Since we had all those road games, we have to make up the games we lost on the road here at home. We can't use the excuse that our record is because of all those road games because we are losing our home games now."

The Kings opened the scoring early in the first period with the teams playing 4-on-4. Oilers goalie Dwayne Roloson was able to make a save on Kopitar's screen shot, but O'Sullivan scored off the rebound.

Edmonton tied it midway through the period. Dustin Penner drove to the net and backhanded a pass to Hemsky, who had plenty of time to tuck the puck into an open net past LaBarbera.

"It's clear the will was there," Oilers coach Craig MacTavish said. "We're a tight group right now. In particular at home. The will and the try and all of those things based on effort are there. It's just a lack of execution in some pretty critical areas of the game offensively."

Notes: LaBarbera got his first start in goal for the Kings since Nov. 1. He started the first 10 games of the season, but hadn't played since. ... Edmonton's Tim Sestito played in his first NHL game.
