CALGARY, Alberta (AP) -Daymond Langkow went nearly five years between hat tricks. It was worth the wait.
Langkow scored once in each period, finishing the third hat trick of his career by deflecting Adrian Aucoin's slapshot 2:03 into the third period, drawing a shower of caps onto the ice.
"It was exciting," said Langkow, who reached the 20-goal mark for the sixth season in a row. "There are games where you get chance after chance and it doesn't go in for you. Tonight was one of those nights where it was finding its way in."
Craig Conroy, Stephane Yelle, and Matthew Lombardi also scored for Calgary, which has picked up points in 11 of its last 12 home games.
Langkow's last three-goal game was nearly five years ago, when he played for the Phoenix Coyotes on Jan. 24, 2003 against Edmonton.
Langkow, who has six goals and seven assists in his last 10 games, is a set to become an unrestricted free agent at season's end.
Calgary entered the night third in its division, but Minnesota lost 4-2 to Anaheim, and Vancouver didn't play.
Derek Armstrong scored for Los Angeles, which had a three-game winning streak snapped.
"We made far too many mistakes both in the offensive zone and the defensive zone," Kings coach Marc Crawford said. "In the second, we started to play a little bit better but the bounces kind of went their way and probably because they worked extremely hard tonight".

Langkow put Calgary ahead by two at 10:48 of the first period when he was set up neatly in the slot by Kristian Huselius after Kings defenseman Rob Blake gave the puck away deep in his own end.
Midway through the second, he put Calgary ahead 3-0 on another nice pass. This time it was Jarome Iginla spotting him open in the slot as he skated behind the net so Langkow could one-time a shot into the top corner past goalie Jason LaBarbera.
"A couple nice passes, one from Kristian and a real nice one there from Jarome right through three guys," Langkow said.
With newly signed backup goaltender Curtis Joseph in uniform for the first time, Miikka Kiprusoff made 37 saves in his 25th consecutive start 48th in 49 games this season.
After a sequence of spectacular stops with the Kings on a power play midway through the third period, chants of "Kipper! Kipper!" could be heard from the appreciative crowd, many of whom stood up to applaud the Finnish goaltender.
"It's an awesome feeling," Kiprusoff said.
Los Angeles entered the night with the league's fourth best power-play, but the Kings went 0-for-9 and gave up Yelle's short-handed goal.
Notes: Calgary RW Owen Nolan (neck) did not play... The Flames only play once in the next 11 days, next Tuesday at home against Minnesota... Having gone 54 games since his last goal, Mark Smith is the Calgary forward in the biggest scoring slump. Behind him are Eric Godard (40), Wayne Primeau (32), and Eric Nystrom (32).
