DETROIT (AP) -Pavel Datsyuk said he didn't have much energy. His play said otherwise.
The Red Wings forward scored two spectacular goals and added an assist to lift Detroit to a 5-3 win over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.
Both of Datsyuk's goals resulted from great efforts.
On the first, which tied the game at 1 with 4:11 left in the first period, Datsyuk took a pass from Holmstrom as he raced down the high slot. He put the puck through the legs of Flames defenseman Cory Sarich, picked it up again and beat goalie Miikka Kiprusoff just under the crossbar.
"The first goal was a momentum swing for us, we didn't come out quite that good," Lidstrom said.
Flames captain Jarome Iginla, who assisted on all three goals, agreed.
"That was an amazing move on the first goal, that was a big boost for them," he said. "To make a move like that and score just under the crossbar has to be a big boost for their team and their fans."
Datsyuk's second goal, scored 37 seconds into the second period, gave Detroit a 4-2 lead.
He carried the puck from just outside the Red Wings' blue line all the way to the front of the Calgary net, going through defensemen Sarich, and Robyn Regehr, and center Craig Conroy all inside the Flames' zone. Datsyuk lost the puck momentarily, but regained possession and backhanded a shot past Curtis McElhinney.
"Certainly he put on an offensive show on two separate occasions," Calgary coach Mike Keenan said. "That's the type of player that gets people out of their seats."
But Datsyuk sounded as though he could have stayed in his seat.
"Today, I'm not feeling energetic," he said. "Today, I went strong (to the net), not more dancing."
When told what Datsyuk said, Lidstrom quipped: "I'd like to see what he could do when he's feeling good then. He's amazing out there."
Regehr, Dion Phaneuf, and Alex Tanguay scored for Calgary. Kiprusoff made 12 saves before being pulled early in the second period after giving up three goals.
Holmstrom gave Detroit a 3-1 lead with his NHL-leading ninth power-play goal 4:36 into the second period. With the Red Wings enjoying a two-man advantage, Holmstrom took Datsyuk's pass out of the corner and put a shot through Kiprusoff's pads from the slot for his 13th goal.
Keenan then pulled Kiprusoff in favor of McElhinney.
"I guess if it's going to help the team. He (Keenan) wasn't happy how I was playing," Kiprusoff said.
Just before Holmstrom's goal, Kiprusoff's mask had been knocked off on a shot from the point by Lidstrom that was tipped by Holmstrom. It broke strap on the side, where it hit, and the game was halted while Calgary equipment manager Gus Thorson fixed it.
Keenan said he thought Kiprusoff might be feeling the effects of getting hit on the helmet.
Phaneuf made it 3-2 with a 5-on-3 goal with 5:57 left in the middle period.
Tanguay made it 4-3 at 3:02 into the third, but Filppula scored his fourth goal 6:13 into the period.
Regehr gave Calgary a 1-0 lead with 8:59 left in the first period when he beat Osgood with a wrist shot from the left point.
Notes: Flames D Rhett Warrener missed his second game with an ankle injury, and Calgary LW Marcus Nilson missed his fifth game due to a head injury. ... Detroit LW Matt Ellis didn't play because of headaches, and Red Wings C Tomas Kopecky was scratched due to a shoulder injury. ... Draper sprained his left knee with about 1:20 left in the first period and didn't return. ... With a little over seven minutes left, Phaneuf leveled Detroit's Jiri Hudler with a high check at center ice. Hudler remained on the ice for a few seconds, and Red Wings' D Andreas Lilja then fought Phaneuf.
