GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - After struggling on the road for more than a month, this was the kind of effort the Anaheim Ducks sought.

The Ducks regained some luster from their Stanley Cup championship season, as Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 30 shots and Anaheim beat Phoenix 5-2 on Saturday night for its first road win.

"We need to start playing on the road as we play at home," said forward Corey Perry, who scored two goals. "That means forechecking, and limit turnovers. When we wear teams down, that's when we're effective."

Giguere, bidding for this 26th career NHL shutout, lost the whitewash early in the final period. The 30-year-old netminder picked up his third win of the season to go with three losses and one tie.

The frustration continued for Phoenix. Since defeating St. Louis at home on opening night Oct. 4, the Coyotes have now lost six straight at home.

"Around the room, everyone is working hard," said Phoenix defenseman Ed Jovanovski, who picked up a goal and an assist. "For the better part of this game, I felt we came on strong. Bottom line right now for me is I just want to win."

Anaheim used a two goal flurry in a span of less than four minutes in the second period to create room for the victory.

Perry began the spurt by picking up a loose puck in front and lifting in a backhander at 4:58. Less then four minutes later, defenseman Mathieu Schneider's shot from the left point was tipped in by Brad May, his first of the season, giving the Ducks 3-0 lead.

Midway through the opening session, the Ducks broke out on top.

Skating with a two-man advantage, Schneider rifled in a 30-foot drive from the slot at 11:13 for a 1-0 Anaheim lead.

The addition of Schneider, who signed in the offseason as a free agent, is significant. Coming off a non-displaced fracture in his left ankle Sept. 15, Schneider appeared in just his second game of the season. Against Phoenix, his stature was felt as the 19-year veteran picked up a goal and two assists.

"(Schneider) plays to his strengths, and we saw that," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "He can play on the point on the power play, kill penalties, and lead by example. It's our responsibility as coaches to put him in a position to make contributions, and he also has to commit to the mandate."

Late in the opening period, Chris Kunitz missed giving the Ducks a two-goal advantage when he hit the left post behind Alex Auld, the Phoenix goaltender. That was the third Anaheim shot of the opening period that went behind Auld and deflected off the post.

The Coyotes' Radim Vrbata broke Giguere's shutout bid when he tipped in Jovanovski's shot trailing in the slot. The goal came at 2:29 of the third period.

Ryan Getzlaf put it out of reach with a power-play goal at 13:19 of the final period, making it 4-1. Jovanovski's power play at 18:08 brought Phoenix to within two.

Perry scored his second of the game after Auld was pulled, sending the puck the length of the rink at 19:35.

In dropping those six straight at home, the Coyotes, conversely, have won four straight on the road.

"We came into the game with two really strong efforts, and started this game with a good opening 10 minutes," coach Wayne Gretzky said. "We were on track and then we took an unnecessary penalty. Then, another penalty, and they score on a two-man advantage. We just continually got behind the 8-ball."

Notes: Daniel Carcillo picked up 34 penalty minutes for Phoenix, including two fighting majors and two misconducts. ... Vrbata's goal tied the winger for the team lead in goals (4) with Carcillo and Fredrik Sjostrom Three Ducks turned in multi-scoring games. Schneider with his goal and two assists, Perry with two goals and Getzlaf with a goal and assist.
