NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ The kids showed the way for the Chicago Blackhawks.

Goaltender Adam Munro earned a tie in his first NHL game Monday night, stopping 33 shots as the Blackhawks tied the Nashville Predators 2-2. Matt Keith scored his first goal of the season with 1:44 remaining to secure the tie.

``That shows what our team is made of,'' said Blackhawks coach Brian Sutter. ``We had three 20-year-old kids on the ice. It was a tie, but it was a character win for us. Our whole team showed a lot of pride.''

Munro, the Blackhawks' top pick in the 2001 draft had been playing with Norfolk of the AHL before being called up two weeks ago. He started the season with the Gwinnette Gladiators of the East Coast Hockey League.

``Chicago played a real tight game,'' Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. ``They had a lot of second and third efforts. They back-checked real hard. Chicago is a young team that is paying attention to detail and working very hard.''

Keith scored by pushing the puck under goalie Tomas Vokoun from a crowd in front of the net.

That upset Predators defenseman Kimmo Timonen.

``For two periods I felt like we should be happy to just get a point,'' he said. ``Then, in the last two minutes we lost a point. They are a hard team to play against, but we cant be happy with losing a point like that.''

Chicago needed only three seconds on the power play to score the first goal of the game. Tyler Arnason got the puck off a faceoff on the right wing and fired it past Vokoun for the only goal of the first period.

Nashville finally countered with a power-play goal midway in the third period. Scott Walker put a shot over the shoulder of Munro.

``I didnt think we were ever going to score for a while,'' Nashville coach Barry Trotz said, ``You have to be very businesslike and very focused on getting the job done. We werent on top of our game the way we should have been and they made us not be on top of our game.''

The Predators took the lead with 3:07 to go when Timomen scored from inside the left faceoff circle. But Keith tied it.

``That was unacceptable,'' Trotz said. ``With two minutes to go we have to hang on to a lead.

``We had real light coverage on the way back down. We tried to play the goal instead of knocking people down. They just skated right through us..''
