PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Sean Burke is sure he'll savor his milestone later.

Burke stopped 25 shots to win his 300th career game as the Philadelphia Flyers beat the New York Rangers 6-2 Saturday for their fifth straight victory.

Burke, the 20th goalie to reach the milestone, won his second straight _ both against the Rangers _ since being acquired from Phoenix on Monday. He got the victory in Philadelphia's 2-1 win at New York on Thursday.

``Wins and losses is not really an individual stat,'' Burke, a 16-year-NHL veteran, said. ``I guess it means for me that I've been around quite a while and I've been fortunate enough to be able to win some games. I think you look back on those things more when you're done playing than while you're playing.''

Burke, who has stopped 51 of 54 shots in the two wins, remembers his first win as a member of the New Jersey Devils during the 1987-88 season.

``Boston Garden, 7-6 win in overtime,'' he said. ``It wasn't a gem, but it was a win.''

Patrick Sharp scored two goals for the Flyers, who maintained their nine-point lead over New Jersey in the Atlantic Division. The Devils beat Carolina 4-1 on Saturday.

Radovan Somik, John LeClair, Michal Handzus, and Tony Amonte also scored, and Kim Johnsson had three assists for the Flyers, who have just one loss in their last 10 games (8-1-1).

Chris Simon and Alex Kovalev scored power-play goals for the Rangers.

``One of the main reasons we lost was because of the play in our own zone,'' said New York's Bobby Holik, who played in his 1,000th NHL game. ``We were pretty bad around the net and I was pretty bad myself. I have to take responsibility myself for our defensive zone coverage.''

Somik and LeClair scored within a span of 1:12 late in the first period to put the Flyers ahead 2-0.

Somik, left alone in front of the net, took a pass from Johnsson and slid the puck low past the glove side of Rangers goalie Mike Dunham at 16:08. LeClair flipped in a shot from the right of the net at 17:20.

The Flyers broke it open with four goals on seven shots in the second period.

Handzus knocked in a rebound of a shot by LeClair on a power play at 3:32, and Amonte beat Dunham with a forehand shot to make it 4-0 five minutes later.

Simon got the Rangers on the scoreboard with just under eight minutes remaining in the period, redirecting a shot from the point by Brian Leetch.

Sharp's two goals came when he scored unassisted at 14:39, and on a rebound with 32 seconds left in the period.

Sharp, who has played most of the season with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL, was in the lineup replacing Jeremy Roenick, who suffered a broken jaw in Thursday's game against the Rangers and is out four-to-six weeks.

``Sharp is a smart player,'' Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock said. ``He is a guy that knows how to play his position. I don't think that it's any accident that he continues to block shots in the defensive zone.''

Dunham gave up all six goals on just 18 shots, and was replaced by Jussi Markkanen to start the third period.

``It didn't go well for us in our zone and they made us pay,'' Dunham said. ``It's very frustrating. ``Philadelphia plays well defensively and has guys that can score goals and they wait for you to turn the puck over.''

Kovalev closed out the scoring at 3:25 of the third.
