GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) _ Olli Jokinen wouldn't allow the Florida Panthers to lose.
Jokinen helped kill an overtime penalty, then scored his second power-play goal with 1:38 left in overtime to give the Florida Panthers a 5-4 comeback victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Wednesday night.
Florida's Juraj Kolnik and Mike Van Ryn tied it with goals 28 seconds apart in the final 1:47, just after Paul Mara and Daymond Langkow scored 2:14 apart to give the Coyotes a 4-2 lead.
``We didn't want to lose this game,'' said Jokinen, who assisted on Kolnik's goal. ``In my mind was we needed to kill the penalty first. Then when we got the penalty, I thought we needed to score and win.''
Eric Beaudoin also scored to help the Panthers snap a four-game winless streak.
Chris Gratton and Daniel Cleary added goals for the Coyotes, and Shane Doan had three assists. The Coyotes fell to 2-6-2-2 at new Glendale Arena, and their 8-11-4-2 overall home record is the worst in the Western Conference.
``It was an absolute collapse,'' Cleary said. ``At this level, in this stage of the season, it doesn't happen. We're not a good enough team to give up points like that.''
Kolnik pulled Florida to 4-3 on his eighth goal with 1:47 remaining. Van Ryn tied it 28 seconds later with goalie Steve Shields off for an extra attacker, deflecting a shot off Radoslav Suchy's skate from the top of the left circle.
``It seemed like if for once we got the hockey gods smiling our way,'' Florida coach Rick Dudley said. ``When we got down two goals they were devastated. You could see it on their faces. But we never gave up.''
Mara had broken a 2-2 tie with 4:35 remaining, fighting off Florida defenseman Mathieu Biron and beating Shields to his stick side. Langkow then extended Phoenix's lead to a seemingly comfortable 4-2 with his 15th goal.
``We were a little upset with ourselves, not how good those goals were,'' Van Ryn said. ``But we never got discouraged where we got away from our game plan.''
Beaudoin had given the Panthers a 2-1 lead at 3:04 of the second period when his shot deflected off Phoenix center Jeff Taffe's stick and past goalie Brian Boucher for his second goal.
Gratton tied the game at 12:53 of the period, one-timing a cross-ice pass from Doan past goalie Steve Shields from the center of the right faceoff circle for his eighth goal.
Phoenix appeared to take a 3-2 lead with 4:20 left in the second period, only to have the goal disallowed.
With Shields skating to the Florida bench while awaiting a delayed penalty call, the Panthers' Kristian Huselius lost control of the puck just inside the Phoenix blue line and sent the puck backward the length of the ice into his own net.
Referee Dan O'Halloran waved off the goal, saying Phoenix's Cale Hulse had caused the miscue by hitting Huselius' arm with his stick. O'Halloran confirmed his call with video goal judge Adam Keller.
``The call was proper by the officials,'' Phoenix coach Bob Francis said. ``There's a flaw in the rule, I will say that. Something needs to be addressed. There is a lot of gray.''
