UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) -- Jarome Iginla was wearing a green hardhat after single-handedly beating the New York Islanders.

Iginla had two goals and an assist in the Calgary Flames' 3-2 victory Tuesday that came one night after they beat the New York Rangers.

The headgear was a nice touch after a difficult two-game stretch following a winless homestand.

"It's a nice hat to be wearing," Iginla said. "It definitely was a tough game for us. They were going all game long."

Iginla, the Flames captain, had a goal and two assists in Monday's 5-0 win against the Rangers.

"I like it when we visit New York," Iginla said. "Two great, loud buildings and two very tough teams."

Oleg Saprykin had the other Calgary goal, and Jamie McLennan made 31 saves to win for the second straight night. It was the Flames' sixth consecutive victory on Long Island, dating to their last loss on Dec. 3, 1996.

Mattias Weinhandl and Jason Blake scored for the Islanders, winless in three games (0-2-1) after posting a six-game winning streak. Garth Snow stopped 31 shots. Snow has played 15 straight games, including 14 starts, for the Islanders.

The Islanders hadn't lost at home since they were beaten by the Rangers on Dec. 4 to complete a seven-game losing streak.

Calgary opened the scoring 6:31 in. Just 15 seconds after Dave Lowry stepped out of the penalty box, he moved into the Islanders zone and centered a pass for Iginla. Snow made the save, but the rebound kicked off Iginla's skate and went into the net.

"All I know is that Davey gave me a great pass," Iginla said. "I took the shot, and the rebound hit something, maybe my skate. I just put my hands in the air and made sure it counted."

Weinhandl tied it at 4:54 of the second period when he swiped the rebound of Mariusz Czerkawski's shot past a prone McLennan.

Blake put the Islanders up 2-1 with his 12th goal at 10:48, off a rebound.

"I thought we gained momentum after Blakey scored," Islanders defenseman Janne Niinimaa said. "But then they got that lucky goal, and we had a hard time getting it back. We lost too many battles."

Calgary tied it 2-2 at 12:07 when Saprykin tipped Iginla's left-center point wrist shot past Snow.

The Flames went back ahead on a two-man advantage goal at 14:00 when Iginla's one-timed shot from the left faceoff dot pinballed in off the crossbar and right post.

"I just felt more comfortable shooting the puck recently," Iginla said.

Islanders coach Steve Stirling was less than pleased with his team's effort.

"After we took the 2-1 lead, we stopped skating and stopped working," Stirling said. "We dug ourselves a hole we couldn't get out of."
