Rangers, minus injured Stepan, host Flyers
Philadelphia Flyers vs. New York Rangers

FLYERS (8-10-5) at RANGERS (16-5-2)

Season series: Steve Mason made 37 saves, and Claude Giroux and Sam Gagner scored in the shootout in the Philadelphia Flyers' 3-2 victory against the New York Rangers on Oct. 24 at Wells Fargo Center. Henrik Lundqvist made 46 saves for the Rangers, who got goals from J.T. Miller and Derick Brassard.

Flyers team scope: Philadelphia, which defeated the Nashville Predators 3-2 in overtime on Friday, will go for its first back-to-back wins since Oct. 21 and 24. Rookie defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere scored in overtime for the second time in three games. "It's a fun ride right now," he told the Flyers website. "I don't have any plans of getting off it. I've never scored that many overtime winners in my life. ... We're going to keep going, and I look forward to New York." Goalie Michal Neuvirth made 33 saves Friday and has won each of his past two starts, but Mason might be in net; they have alternated starts in each of the past four games. The Flyers begin a three-game road trip; they will visit the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday and the New Jersey Devils on Friday.

Rangers team scope: New York will be without center Derek Stepan, who broke his ribs during a 4-3 loss to the Boston Bruins on Friday. Coach Alain Vigneault said Stepan will be out indefinitely. "We lost a really good player and a key player for us, and hopefully he's going to be back soon," forward Derick Brassard said after the game. The Rangers allowed two goals in the third period after allowing three in the third period of a 5-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday. Prior to Wednesday, they had allowed 13 third-period goals in 21 games. "Stuff was going our way at the start of the year, and now it's going the other way" defenseman Dan Girardi told the Daily News. "We've got to get it going back in the other direction." Henrik Lundqvist likely will make his sixth straight start; he has allowed eight goals in his past two games.
