Senators' Anderson expected to return vs. Jets
Ottawa Senators vs. Winnipeg Jets

SENATORS (27-23-11) at JETS (32-20-12)

Season series: The Winnipeg Jets defeated the Ottawa Senators 2-1 in a shootout Nov. 8. Jets forward Mathieu Perreault scored the deciding goal. Winnipeg goaltender Ondrej Pavelec had 37 saves. Ottawa goaltender Craig Anderson made 36 saves.

Senators team scope: Anderson is expected to start the finale of the Senators' five-game road trip. He has not played since Jan. 21 because of a hand injury. A five-game winning streak ended Tuesday in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild. The shootout loss leaves the Senators six points behind the Boston Bruins for the second wild-card spot into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference. Ottawa had won five consecutive road games and not lost on the road since Feb. 3 before losing Tuesday. The Senators have allowed seven goals in their past six games. Defenseman Jared Cowen has not played since Feb. 21 because of a suspension and illness. Forward Curtis Lazar replaced Colin Greening on Tuesday. The Senators begin a three-game homestand Friday against the Buffalo Sabres.

Jets team scope: Forward Lee Stempniak will make his Winnipeg debut after being acquired from the New York Rangers in a trade Sunday. Stempniak skated at left wing on the third line with center Adam Lowry and right wing Blake Wheeler in practice Tuesday, according to the Jets website. Coach Paul Maurice is likely to keep his top two lines intact. “Whenever we’re introducing someone new into the lineup, the first theory that I think I’m comfortable with is to move as few pieces as possible to do it,” Maurice told the Jets website. Winnipeg has a one-point lead on Minnesota for the first wild-card spot into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference; Minnesota has a game in hand. Goaltender Michael Hutchinson has started six of the past seven games (4-0-2). The Jets begin a four-game road trip Saturday against the Nashville Predators.
