Flyers could reinsert Lecavalier against Panthers
Florida Panthers vs. Philadelphia Flyers

PANTHERS (13-8-8) at FLYERS (11-14-5)

Season series: The Florida Panthers and Philadelphia Flyers split two games in a six-day span at the beginning of November. On Nov. 1 in Sunrise, Fla., Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo made 36 saves in a 2-1 Florida win at BB&T Center. On Nov. 6 in Philadelphia, Flyers forward Sean Couturier had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 Philadelphia victory.

Panthers team scope: Florida was rewarded with a day off Wednesday after its historic win Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. The Panthers won a record-setting 20-round shootout when center Nick Bjugstad scored the game-deciding goal. "I've never seen anything like that," goaltender Roberto Luongo said. "The great thing is I don't know how many times guys bailed me out where they had to score to keep it alive and they did every time. It was amazing." Luongo made 15 saves in the shootout after making 24 saves in regulation and overtime. The win allowed the Panthers to move ahead of the Capitals into the final Eastern Conference wild-card spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Flyers team scope: After sitting out the past seven games, six as a healthy scratch, forward Vincent Lecavalier could return to the lineup Thursday. "I think that I have to give him opportunities with skill players, whether it's power play or whatever," Berube said Wednesday, according to the Courier-Post. "I'm going to look at the lines. I like the lines where they are, so I don't know what I'll do. I'll have to think about it." Berube said he'd like to play Lecavalier at his regular position, center. The most likely scenarios are putting Lecavalier in Scott Laughton's spot between Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds on the second line, or on the fourth line. "He just said keep working hard," Lecavalier said, according to the Courier-Post. "That's what I've been doing." Berube said he's seen Lecavalier's skating improve recently. "He looks hungry to me," Berube said. "He wants in there and that's a good sign. He's a good player. We need Vinny and the team to work together to find a place for him here that works."
