Predators chase season series sweep of Oilers
Edmonton Oilers vs. Nashville Predators

OILERS (6-14-2) at PREDATORS (14-5-2)

TV: SN360, FS-TN

Season series: The Nashville Predators have a chance to complete a sweep of the season series against the Edmonton Oilers with a win. Craig Smith scored twice in their 4-1 win in Edmonton on Oct. 29. Filip Forsberg had the game-winning goal and an assist in a 3-2 win in Nashville on Nov. 11. Predators goalie Pekka Rinne has stopped 47 of 50 shots against the Oilers in the two games. Right wing Craig Smith has two goals and one assist and center Mike Ribeiro has one goal and two assists in the two games to lead Nashville. For Edmonton, center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and right wing Jordan Eberle each have two assists.

Oilers team scope: Edmonton has lost seven straight games (0-6-1), has not defeated a Western Conference opponent this season in 12 games (0-11-1) and is tied for the fewest points in the NHL with 14. Forward Taylor Hall managed to return to the previous game against the Dallas Stars after a hit by Ryan Garbutt that will result in a hearing with the Department of Player Safety for Garbutt on Thursday. Hall's status has yet to be updated for Thursday. Defenseman Justin Schultz was benched on Tuesday and was limited to 15:13 in time on ice.

Predators team scope: Rinne won his second shootout in two games, 4-3, against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. The NHL's co-leader in victories has won eight of the past nine games he has started. With two assists against Los Angeles on Tuesday, forward Colin Wilson has two goals and three assists in his past four games. He has been skating at left wing on a line with center Calle Jarnkrok and Smith. Smith has two goals and five points in his past five games and Jarnkrok has one goal and four points in his past five games. This is the third game of a four-game homestand for Nashville, which has won the first two. The Predators are 5-1-1 against the Pacific Division this season and 8-1-1 at home. Last season Nashville lost at home against the Oilers 3-0 on Thanksgiving Day but the Predators are 3-1-0 in franchise history on the holiday.
