Lightning forward Drouin might make debut vs. Oilers
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Edmonton Oilers

LIGHTNING (3-1-1) at OILERS (0-4-1)

TV: TVA SPORTS, SUN, SNW

Season series: This is the first of two games between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Edmonton Oilers. The Lightning and Oilers split two games in 2013-14, with each winning by two goals on its home ice.

Lightning team scope: Tampa Bay may get some extra help beginning Monday as it continues a five-game road trip through Western Canada, Winnipeg and Minnesota. Forward Jonathan Drouin, the third pick at the 2013 NHL Draft, was recalled from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League along with defenseman Luke Witkowski on Sunday. Drouin scored a goal and had two assists in a two-game conditioning stint with Syracuse. Unless Drouin is a healthy scratch, he will make his NHL debut Monday against the Oilers. Tampa Bay defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-2 on Saturday in the opener of the road trip behind two goals and an assist from Steven Stamkos. The Lightning, currently three points behind the Montreal Canadiens for first place in the Atlantic Division, lost top defenseman Victor Hedman to an upper-body injury. Coach Jon Cooper said Hedman will probably miss the rest of the trip.

Oilers team scope: Five games into its season, Edmonton is the only team in the Western Conference without a win; its lone point came from a shootout loss to Vancouver on Oct. 11. The Oilers will have plenty of opportunities to break the trend over the next two weeks during a seven-game homestand, their longest of the season. The Oilers lost the opener of that homestand to the Canucks on Friday, but they used the weekend to attempt to shore up some weaknesses. "The things we're doing well are our forecheck and ability to close quickly on our forecheck in the neutral zone," coach Dallas Eakins told the Oilers website Sunday. "We're also continuing to try and get better in a couple of areas. Our power play's come off a little bit. We're not overly worried about it, but we worked on that."
