Anderson to start Senators' critical game vs. Islanders
Ottawa Senators vs. New York Islanders

SENATORS (33-31-14) AT ISLANDERS (31-36-11)

TV: SNET-E, TVA, MSG PLUS

Last 10: Ottawa 5-4-1; New York 6-2-2

Season series: This is the third and final game between the Ottawa Senators and New York Islanders with New York going for the sweep after winning the first two.

Big story: The Senators need a win to keep their slim Stanley Cup Playoff chances alive while the Islanders look to get back on the winning track after two straight losses.

Team Scope:

Senators: Ottawa begins its final four games with a trip to Long Island. Despite the Senators being longshots for a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, coach Paul MacLean said his team isn't packing it in.

"We want to play right and we want to play well," MacLean said after practice Monday. "We want to approach it game-by-game and give ourselves a chance to win the game. That's what my expectation still is."

After sitting out a 3-2 win Saturday against the New York Rangers, goalie Craig Anderson will start for the Senators on Tuesday. Despite allowing seven goals on 23 shots in a 7-4 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Friday, MacLean said his goalies have played well.

"I think our goaltenders, I don't think have been a big problem for us," MacLean said. "They have been pretty consistent for us. Our team play has led to more issues that we've had. They've stood in there and we've made it hard for them.

Islanders: Tuesday will be the home finale for the Islanders, who are 3-0-1 in their past four games at Nassau Coliseum despite having 13 wins in 40 games on home ice.

The Islanders lost 4-0 to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday with a young lineup which included among others, rookies John Persson, Mike Halmo, Johan Sundstrom and Scott Mayfield. Capuano said he expects more out of his players as the season winds down.

"They are in a situation where they are getting a great opportunity," Capuano said Sunday. "They got some time here over the next week to bounce back and hopefully that's Tuesday night."

The Islanders on Monday recalled forward Brett Gallant on an emergency basis from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League and returned Sundstrom to the Sound Tigers.

Who's hot: Senators forward Mika Zibanejad has five points in his past five games. In his past five starts, goalie Robin Lehner has a .937 save percentage. ... Islanders forward Josh Bailey has two goals and six points in his past five games.

Injury report: Senators defenseman Colin Greening (lower body) will not play. Defenseman Jared Cowen (lower body) and Bobby Ryan (sports hernia) are out. … Forward Michael Grabner (upper body) and defenseman Calvin de Haan (lower body) are questionable. Forwards Kyle Okposo (lower body) and John Tavares (knee), and defensemen Lubomir Visnovsky (concussion) and Brian Strait (broken left hand) are out.
