Ducks focused on better start as they visit Oilers
Anaheim Ducks vs. Edmonton Oilers

DUCKS (50-19-8) at OILERS (27-42-9)

TV: TSN, PRIME

Last 10: Anaheim 6-3-1; Edmonton 4-6-0

Season series: This is the fifth and final game between the Anaheim Ducks and Edmonton Oilers. The Ducks have won three of four, including the most recent game, a 3-2 victory on Wednesday in Anaheim.

Big story: With five games remaining in the regular season, the Ducks are competing with the San Jose Sharks for the top spot in the Pacific Division, and every point is critical from here on out.

Team Scope:

Ducks: A three-game winning streak was snapped with a 5-2 loss to the Nashville Predators on Friday. The Ducks have allowed 11 goals in their past three games.

"We haven't been good defensively. That's one aspect of our game that we have to get better at for the playoffs," defenseman Francois Beauchemin said after the loss. "Every single guy has got to be better, mentally sharp and ready to play. We all know what we have to do."

In their past three games, the Ducks have trailed 4-0 against the Winnipeg Jets, 2-0 against the Oilers and 3-0 against the Predators. Anaheim has played from behind, allowing six first period goals.

"We can't let this happen. We have to find a way," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "Sometimes, for one reason or another, we're not getting the job done early. We're a really good team with the lead, but we just haven't had the lead lately."

Oilers: Edmonton finishes the season with four straight games at home, beginning Sunday, hoping to end the season on a winning note despite not making the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the eighth consecutive season.

"We want to keep climbing the ladder," forward Matt Hendricks said after a 3-2 shootout win against the Phoenix Coyotes on Friday. "We've hit the peak and we've gone done the valley a few times, but we want to continue these next four games on a high note."

The Oilers will also host the Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks on the homestand.

"Now that we are in this part of the season, we are playing teams where these games are huge to them and we understand that," coach Dallas Eakins said. "It's fun and it's challenging to be in games that really mean something to the other team."

Who's hot: Ducks forward Corey Perry has four goals in his past three games. Forward Daniel Winnik has a three-game point scoring streak. … Oilers forward Jordan Eberle has three goals and four assists in his past four games. Forward Taylor Hall has nine points in his past six games.

Injury report: Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen (upper body) is doubtful. Defenseman Cam Fowler (knee) is out. … Oilers forwards Jesse Joensuu (ankle), Ryan Jones (torn PCL), Luke Gazdic (shoulder), Nail Yakupov (ankle) and defenseman Andrew Ference (chest) are out. Forward Tyler Pitlick (knee) is day-to-day.
