WILD (17-8-5) AT BLUE JACKETS (11-14-3)
TV: FS-N, FS-O
Last 10: Minnesota 5-4-1; Columbus 5-4-1
Season series: This is the first of two games between the Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets. They played three time last season with the Wild taking two, including a 3-0 victory in their lone visit to Nationwide Arena.
Big story: Columbus is playing its first game since Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky went down with a leg injury earlier this week. He made 18 saves before exiting the game with the injury in the third period of a 1-0 win against the Lightning on Tuesday, and will miss at least four weeks with a groin strain. Backup Curtis McElhinney will shoulder the load in his absence.
"Curtis is our No. 1 now," coach Todd Richards said. "I don't think it's going to change how our guys prepare or how they play. There may be a difference in style between Bob and Curtis, but players are going into games not thinking that they have to change or do something different."
Wild: Minnesota hadn't scored a power play goal in six games (0-for-11) before going 2-for-3 in Thursday night's 4-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Zach Parise and Jonas Brodin had the power-play goals for the Wild, who let a 2-0 lead turn into a 3-2 third-period deficit before scoring twice in the final six minutes.
"It was huge. Power play goals were great. We haven't had too many recently," said defenseman Marco Scandella, who had the game-winning goal. "We haven't gotten the bounces but tonight our guys did a great job. ...We've had a little rough patch recently but it's good to get a couple [wins] in a row here."
Blue Jackets: The Blue Jackets lost one player in Bobrovsky, but Columbus got back a big part of their offense Tuesday as Brandon Dubinsky returned to the lineup after missing six games with an ankle injury.
"We found a way to get the two points. It was nice to come back and jump right back into the action there," Dubinsky said. "I was huffing and puffing a little bit but I feel I got my legs under me after a little bit."
Dubinsky is third on the team with 15 points.
Injury report: The Wild are without forward Mikael Granlund (head) who is on injured reserve. … The Blue Jackets have five players on IR: Forwards Nathan Horton (shoulder), Cody Bass (thumb), Marian Gaborik (knee), Jared Boll (foot) and Bobrovsky.
